http://www.ajc.com/news/atlanta/attorney-cop-used-excessive-926236.html

From the second video posted I looked at a few articles and found out that the first person being grabbed was a woman, Cynthia Freeman. According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution (AJC), Freeman stated that she was being pulled so hard some of her hair came out. She was charged with battery, obstruction of justice, battery, and criminal trespass.

Ashley Leavell supposedly was coming to break up the two (very wrongly) when she was slapped in the face and retaliated against the cop. On one hand, Leavell most definitely shouldn't have thrown any punches. Now she's being charged with obstruction, battery, and public drunkeness.

AJC also noted that the officer implicated in the possible use of excessive force was placed on administrative duty with an investigation pending.

Police obviously shouldn't have struck the woman in the first place as well. So I'm sure both will be charged. It's at least good both videos are posted as evidence.

I am sorry but this is not about even putting hands on a cop, a lot of females think its cool to slap men or punch or attack them, if you do that expect an ass whooping cuz personally i might overlook it once but if you hit me again i will knock your front teeth out to teach you a lesson

It certainly was excessive force. He could have chosen any other method to take her down.

She was in the wrong, but he went a little overboard.

Thank you! that's what people are not seeing. You don't need to use all the force to stop someone.

I was arresting a guy and her girlfriend grabbed my arm to get me off of him. I punched her square in the face. She stopped. I did not have to give her any more of my attention.

I was trying to pull a drunk driver out of his car and he kept hanging on to his steering wheel...I punched him in the face a few choice times...he let go.

Three of us were breaking up a bar fight and one of the guys still had some fight in him. A few baton swipes to his thigh.....subdued.

So many people say "oh what was excessive" or "why did he hit her in the face"....where should he hit her...the shoulder? When the police officer is trying to affect an arrest anything outside of that is delt with quickly and forcefully because it institutes a dangerous situation. I see nothing he did wrong....

...not even a little bit. She put her hands on a police officer, and then she started punching at him. She got a well deserved ass whippin'....and in the end, was the one who was hauled off.

Nothin I can say that wasnt already said. We all(almost) agree for once. Dont put your hands on an officer unless its self defense. Especially when the officer is distracted. Doesnt matter if youre a female midget on estrogen pills. That excuse doesnt fly.

try pushing her off of him and she started punching him after he slapped her.

    FYI

    There is a difference between

    1. a slap

    2. a push

    3. a punch in the face.

Nobody ever died from a slap. I get a little nervous when someone says he has punched a woman, for whatever reason, just as I get a little nervous when someone says he has been a police officer. Just the idea that someone would feel justified in maybe responded to a woman slapping him in the face with a sock to the jaw, a sucker punch, or whatever.

I also hate the "You started it" mentality - ANYTHING could happen but as long as you started it, the 2nd party feels that they have a right to do anything they want to you.

I thought female cops should have gotten involved maybe because he was on top of the woman in a pretty unnecessarily sexual, brutish manner -I don't believe it took THAT much for a huge man to restrain a small woman. I have seen cops overreact (not saying that their job isn't difficult), but some cops look like they're ready to snap.

How far does he have to go until he is wrong? Until it turns into a another Rodney King incident?

lol at using Rodney King for an example. That idiot was not only drinking and driving but he ran away from the cops. Nobody but him is to blame for the predicament he was in.

Same exact thing goes for this girl.

No where in the law does it say you can go upside someone's head if they have been driving while drunk and escaping the police. By saying he is to blame for getting beat up like that you are enabling the police to break the laws and do as they please.

Yeah I figured somebody would laugh at me for using Rodney King as an example, but whatever.

If you get nervous over the internet, you'd pee your pants in person.

So the idea here is that she's a woman? No way...if that were the case as a womans he should not have put her hands on a man. Not just a man, but a man 2,3, times bigger than her. She got swatted...not slapped....that should be clue enough for her to stop what she was doing. She flipped and started punching at a police officer.

your call is that he should not have punched her just simply grabbed her and started slappin' the piss out of her....woooooooooooo not THAT would have went over well.

your idea here is man vs woman. This is flawed. A police officer is not going to wait around while a female police officer gets into position. For whatever reason Girl A was being arrested by the police...Girl B jumped in. And here is the think had Girl A just gone willingly who knows...i could have been a misunderstanding. (just saying)

...in any event the person who was originally going to be hauled away wasn't...and the one who assaulted the cop was.

You would be surprised. Start watching at 2:37

Yes one man and subdue a woman.....but the reason why it takes or or more because they TRY to do it without really whippin' her ass.

Of course be we can use SOME is just about any situation for any reason...and no one said some SOME cops don't over react.

I have been neg repped for saying i would knock a woman's front teeth out and i have an idea who did it but i still stand by my word females do not go about slapping men just because you think you can. I know a man who exercised restrain while a woman slapped him punched him and eventually smashed a bottle at the back of his head and he is now a vegetable in a hospital.

    Agreed.

The officer probably shouldnt of punched her in the face BUT he had every right to slam her into the ground since she was causing trouble.

ANd seriously ladies, if you're gonna fight like a big boy or resist arrest...you better be prepared to get your ass kicked lol.:smt043

Don't know what the law is like in Ghana, but in America and in most other industrialized countries, it's a pretty serious offense. Someone took what you said to a personal degree.

I guess I have a neg rep coming, if a woman punches me, I going to do the same thing to her that I would a man who punched me..

I don't do that "I know a person who [.....insert argument......] but what I do know is that if you don't want a MAN who is generally, stronger, faster, and bigger than you........don't hit him.

I have never had the misfortune of having a woman hit me, I don't think I've met women that crazy.
