Many U.S. Blacks Moving to South, Reversing Trend
By SABRINA TAVERNISE and ROBERT GEBELOFF

WASHINGTON — The percentage of the nation’s black population living in the South has hit its highest point in half a century, according to census data released Thursday, as younger and more educated black residents move out of declining cities in the Northeast and Midwest in search of better opportunities.

The share of black population growth that has occurred in the South over the past decade — the highest since 1910, before the Great Migration of blacks to the North — has upended some long-held assumptions.

On one level, this trend could mean a growing ethnic enclave. On another level, it also could mean new opportunities are emerging for blacks to pool resources together. It does help that the people in the demography associated with this trend are the young, and more educated blacks.

As I read this, 3 large cities come to mind.........
Detroit which is now a carcass of a once thriving city has too many problems to count....what reason is there for a young blackman with an education, or a skill to stay there in that city........
New York City, was once a place with an infinite amount of opportunities in every field........But since becoming a sanctuary city, it is now a massive melting pot with every kind of foreign ethnicity competing ferociously with blacks for everything from medium skilled jobs to public assistance.....the unemployment rate for black-men in that city is 46%....what reason is there to continue to stay there if you can leave......
Chicago from what I read, is somewhat racially divided.......with young blackmales disproportionately contributing to a crime rate out of control, it makes for a poor climate of racial harmony, opportunities and the distribution of wealth. The working philosophy is "If you can't control them contain them"........Why should a young black man who has played by the rules and prepared himself vocationally stay mired in a city with invisible restrictions and so many other social ills....why not take your girl or your family and leave this city in pursuit of a fairer playing field...

    cosign cosign cosign.

the way the world is made up now you may have to move out the country to get a job because the jobs are going outside the country now and not just manufacturing. I was watching fareed zakareera and he had ceos from fortune 500 companies saying they cant find qualified science people to help with their company thus they hire indians and others

LOL. I like that one. thats funny.

Oh yeah no doubt it is about the cheap labor. It is also a well known fact (not because they are smart) that they are more inclined toward science and they are kicking our asses in the math and sciences.

I find that to be partially true. They seemingly care more about outsourcing their company for cheaper means than hire workers here.

    They aren't kicking anybody's asses.

    They're just cheaper..

Being cheaper doesn't sound like kicking asses to me.

They'd still be sleeping on rats if not for the greed of corporations USING their asses like the scab they are.

This Country has been hijacked by globalist..it no longer protects it's people from cheap markets like India and China.

actually they are the indians and other industrialized countries are way ahead of us. the US was ranked 23 or 33 in math and science. china was in the top 10 only after being allowed to be rank only for 3 years

America is dead last amongst industrualized nations in infrastructure...healthcare...education...ect ect...not because of india and china..but because it's been looted by the most corrupt corporate/political regimes this Country has ever known.

The gap between rich and poor has NEVER been as wide as it is today..

but we are there. yes PARTLY because of economical situations but that should not be an excuse. fredrick douglas and the like taught themselves to read during slavery. soon after slavery was over with almost 5 years later one of the carolinas had a majority state senate full of black represenatives that was leter restructured so it wouldnt happen again. madame c.j walker (woman) a millionaire. inventors , doctors, educators ect... before the turn of the century.

    NO excuse.

I know. Im just being an ass. LOL, Love ya.

In all seriousness though....this is a jacked up sitaution. that we (especially black folks) can get it together in the education arena . especially by now when the world is more competitive.. no more competing with jeff down the road for a job. now you are competing with AKHMED and LIU CHING in their countries

Does anyone think they are able to solve these kinds of problems and get them correct? I'm able to do them, but they aren't correct.

there are structural problems in this country. the rich get richer, while the poor get poorer. to me, the black migration is no different than chinese migration to so-called "industrial zones" in china or migrant workers moving from rural areas to overcrowd citties in developing nations. to me this shows the signs of a bubble. this is happening all over the country. think of all those factory workers in pennslyvania or those abadoned farms in iowa. to me it's uneven growth that leads disproportioniate pockets of poverty.

but you are arguing two different things: china( maro policy) and individual blacks(micro policy).

it is policy and goals that make china where it is(culture, communism and a national vision) to make it happen. it's not they are smarter than us,they are put in a position to succeed, the dumbest kids are still better prepared than us. it's about priority, we teach kids for a test, not an education.

it's about will. the two british girls, tastyacidmilk and theotheronewhowillremainnameless will tell you the reason britain has such good medical care,is not because the doctors are part-time rocket scientists, but because there is a united vision to see every citizen recieve great care. remember these rankings are averages........higher averages mean higher collections of ppl doing well. that is the real issue how do we create the conditions to make that happen.

It really isn't surprising to see people move out of metropolitan areas in a recession...people will chase a job in this climate...very similar to the national traffic jam average, it's down , because not at many people are driving to jobs...go figure...
