This article has gotten a lot of ppl riled up and up in the air.

Understanding The Frenzy Over Vick and White Folks’ Love of Dogs

But even through his redemptive professional comeback, Vick still can’t escape the calls from animal rights activist and dog owners alike that he should have been stripped of his freedom and barred from the game forever.

This constant barrage of hate towards the quarterback is alarming for some, particularly in the African American community, who find it odd that dogs in America have been elevated to a higher standard than many humans. All this resentment has led some in the black community to raise the pentacle question: Why do White people love dogs much more than they do Black people?

The reality is that this phony outrage over Vick’s past treatment of dogs has little to do with the crime that he had been convicted of but more likely a reflection of the deep-seeded racial prejudice of black men with money. The same, so-called dog-loving activist Tucker Calson seemingly has no problem with Sarah Palin and her helicopter moose shooting expeditions.

I can not believe how far you are stretching this. This has nothing to do with race and everything to do with a millionaire taking time out of his day to participate in abusing dogs. He could have been helping out the community but he chose to abuse the dogs. How many issues do we have in this community? and this is what this guy is doing? a millionaire abusing dogs. That is just insane.

Trust me the outrage is real. People have sympathy for a lot of animals and/or people. Again there is no race issue. I can not believe this attempt to defend a convicted man. You got men going to prison who are innocent and no one is making threads about that. But lord help us if a convicted man with money who takes time out of his day to torture animals is being talked about.:smt018

The priorities are just out of whack. There should have been a higher sentence for Vick and even higher sentences for people killing people.

    Thank you. Co-sign!

Vick did his time and he was banned from the NFL for a year, I think? Anyway, I'm not happy that he's playing again, and making millions and people are adoring him again, but on the flipside, he did his time.

But that doesn't excuse the fact that some of the dogs had to be destroyed because of abuse. Luckily, many of those dogs were able to be rehabilitated and adopted to loving homes.

It's about the abuse of animals. It's about raising dogs to kill each other FOR SPORT. About leaving them locked in cages, not feeding them, letting them live in their own filth, not doing anything to help their wounds....

Those dogs did nothing to deserve treatment like that. Nothing.

I just hope that he and others like him have learned from their mistakes and realize how disgusting and inhumane that type of behavior truly is....

I said the same thing two weeks ago. I think journalists may be mining this board for ideas. haha

Fuck all the bleeding hearts who can't stand seeing Ron Mexico's black ass out there doing his thing. I sincerely hope he hoists that trophy in the air next month.

Vick is an NFL quarterback currently doing well, supposedly he was entangled with dog fighting ring and 13 dogs got killed. He went to jail for 2 years I beleive for lying to the Feds during the dog torture investigation, now he is free and palying foot ball (not your kind of foot ball but ours).

Thanks for sharing this. I couldn't bear to read stories about this when it happened, so I had no idea that all went on. Wow.

Michael Vick (aka Ron Mexico) made a mistake, was found guilty of the crimes he committed, sentenced to federal prison at Leavenworth, declared bankruptcy, was banned from the NFL for 2 years, and basically hit rock-bottom.

In no way do I condone what he did because I love animals, but I do believe that he paid his debt to society and should be allowed to get on with his life and career. I thought this was America??? Whatever happened to getting a second chance at redemption?

a second chance at redemption would be a third chance at life (cant no one help your ass then...3 strikes a mothafucka is out)

trivial word play aside :)smt015) i do agree that people deserve a second chance. Like an earlier post mentioned, it's as if his detractors value the life of an animal over the life of an African American athlete.

People need to stop tripping and remember human lives are top priority. If he was white, mothafuckas wouldnt care.

That comes with a fair amount of time in prison. To do all of that, and get such a short prison time shows how out of order the justice system is.
America is notoriously known for not giving the appropriate amount of correction/punishment. This is just the same old same old.

I wish you were there to tell Vick/Mexico to give the dogs a second chance. You people are protecting the wrong person. His own daddy told him to not do it. He still went on.

what exactly should the penalty be?

have you ever spent 2 years anywhere, let alone a federal prison, to know whether or not that's fair or unfair, for what he did involving animals

    come on man

I am pretty certain that was much nicer than being drowned and electrocuted.
I am also certain he got better treatment in those prisons than I would.
I am being nice with Ron mexico. I could go into the Ron Mexico incident.

shit I drown roaches in the toilet and like to watch beetles die a slow death, after being caught on sticky traps

i also put caught mice in bags and suffocate the little bastards inside of trashcans

i guess i need to spend 2 years in prison too

oh wait, that's not enough time!

    :p

    come on, son
