I've learned that NY terms of endearment apparently differ drastically from those used in other parts of the country Robina. For instance, I think thus far I recall the following non-gender specific Andrae NY terms of endearment: fam, kid, asshole, fucker. In Oklahoma it runs more along the lines of sugar, sweet pea, babe, honey, doll, darlin'. If I call someone asshole or fucker, they are not my friend. LOL!
That's probably good! Though you called me one of those once, surprised me in fact... but once you explained all was good. But around here you might literally get smacked for calling someone one of those terms if they didn't know you well, and maybe even if they did. I'm sure you'd at least get some raised eyebrow, wide eyed looks. But in general I think people here seem to expect people from the East coast to be a bit more abrupt, not sure that's the best word for it, but I've heard that from quite a few locals.
