Dancing with the Stars' Ratings Record: 23.9 Million Viewers!

Thanks to its all-star cast, Dancing With the Stars pulled in a record 23.9 million viewers last night during the two-hour season premiere.

Kate Gosselin has said she's not the greatest of dancers and judge Bruno Toniolo agreed when she did the Viennese waltz to Billy Joel's "She’s Only A Woman." "The technique was terrible," he said. "It looked like [your partner Tony Dovolani] was pushing a shopping cart around the floor. You have to exude something."

Top scores of the night went to Pussycat Doll frontwoman Nicole Scherzinger and Olympic figure skating champ Evan Lysacek. And of course Pamela Anderson ripped her partner Damian Whitewood's shirt open!

USA TODAY's Gary Levin reports that Dancing With The Stars' new season kicked off last night with its biggest ratings on any night since November 2007, adding six million viewers to last fall's premiere. It built by 2.5 million viewers in its second hour (when Kate and Pam were on) and boosted Castle to a series high at 10 p.m., where it beat a CSI: Miami original for the first time. Dancing averaged 23.9 million viewers.

 

New host of Dancing with the Stars season 10 is Brooke Burke

Tom Bergeron's former co-host, Samantha Harris, has been replaced in Season 10 by a previous Dancing with the Stars champion, Brooke Burke. Brooke's ease in front of the camera will allow her to be an effective co-host throughout the season.

Chad Ochocinco and Cheryl Burke (Cha-Cha-Cha): first on the dance floor, Chad provided a solid performance. Although his footwork was weak, Chad shows promise. Chad proved a crowd favorite, receiving some of the loudest cheers of the night. Scores: 6/6/6 Total: 18

 

NFL star Chad Ochocinco tweeted this photo of himself with Cheryl Burke, saying, "Is this not a sexy picture? Wait 'til you see our routine Monday night."
