Absolutely Bookworm! I think honestly that explains why a lot of women in their thirties and forties don't have less options. As you get older you naturally become more secure in yourself and that manifests in the way you interact with other people. You can pick out self confident people from a crowd and that's a very attractive quality to a lot of men who are completely turned off by insecure, immature women. Oddly, those same qualities in a younger woman seems to have the opposite effect. I've noticed that a really self-confident woman in her late teens to early twenties seems to scare the pants off men her own age. Just not what they expect or are used to I guess.
