In severe need of a stiff drink and a good night's rest, neither of which seem available.

 

I spent an hour last nite chasing this little baby possum out of my house!
It somehow squeezed itself throught the screen, little tiny thing...

Funny thing is the cats were just sleeping away - good thing or it would have become dinner.

I was laughing so hard thorugh the whole thing, it was just so surreal.

 

baby opossums are absolutely adorable. So tiny..

Well, I had a shitty night. And had I listened to my inner voice, it would have been avoided.

I was supposed to meet a bunch of old college friends at someone's house for a party tonight. My sitter fell through. I wasn't going to be able to go. Somewhere in the back of my mind I just knew it was a mistake to be going to this party. But, I didn't listen. I shopped around and found a sitter and headed off to my destination - which is about 50 miles from my place out in the middle of buttfuck nowhere.

Long story short, if I had GPS or I had directions that were actually accurate, I would have been fine. I'd be drinking right now. However, that didn't happen. The directions were screwed up and I got lost. Top that off with my gas gauge going down to empty and me being literally in the middle of nowhere, by myself. I had to hope and pray that my car would make it to a town that actually had a gas station, which was 20 miles away.

I actually made it to a 24 hour gas station. I had to go 20 miles out of my way to get to one. All the while I'm doing scenarios in my head of what I'm going to f-ing do if my car actually stalls out. I kept track of every single road I passed, as a just in case.

So, 3 hours from when I took off for the party, I was back home.

What a waste of a Saturday night. :smt093

Yeah I guess not. I had enough signs telling me not to go....I should have stayed home and chilled with my daughter. Oh well. Hindsight is always 20/20.

That little bugger baby possum came and visited tonight again!!
You would have thunk he would have learned from last nite that this is not a good place to be.

This time he got all the way into the bedroom, I thought I would never get him out - that little thing.. I mean , he can get into all sorts of hard-to-get-to places.

I managed to corner him and like last nite, I picked him up by the tail.. but this time he just sort of hung there (last nite he was hissing and spitting), kinda like "here we go again"..
I put him out on the porch and he just sat there before scurrying away.

Did I just get adopted by this little thing??

I am starting to wonder what happend to the mom. I usually see her right after dark on the retention wall between me and my neighbor.. but I havent seen her in a few days..
so maybe the little bugger is hungry.
I have had some odd pets in my life, but I am afraid that two cats and a possum is not going to work one will end up dinner?
The funny thing is that they dont react to it..

I am afraid that animal control will kill it and I am a sucker for animals...
so Ill see if he comes back or if he got the message
