What is the interracial dating/marriage environment like where you are?

I'm in a southern suburb of Minnesota and it's basically non-existant, whichis funny because I'm a by product of a interracial marriage, I'm half white and half black. In my area I don't see it often. Now 25 miles or so in Minneapolis/St. Paul I see it a lot. I guess living in Minnesota does have its benefits since I'm mainly into white girls and mixed girls. People are accepting of it here, I've never heard anyone say anything about me or my parents when we go out, or noticed anything awkward.

 

L.A. is good, better than most American cities. It's unlikely that you'd go through life here without at least one serious relationship with a non-black woman.

No one really cares who you date and the women are friendly.

 

DC is a bit polarized and not the greatest for interracial dating. Its a power hungry city. Theres no white lower class because DC was never a manufacturing city which means people are more likely to equate race with class. The closer you get the Baltimore, the more interracial couples I see.

 

Slim to none.

 

There's a lot of IR couples here.

 

I live in a town that has a university and college and since education in both is finances through taxes and nobody needs to pay college/university fees not only many Germans are enrolled but also people from all over the world come to Germany with a student visa.
My gown also used to be home to a US Army base which just closed down in 2007. Therefore interracial dating is not a rarity here.
However the country is still not a "melting pot" as the US is.

tru - I lived in Germany for 5 years and I dig/envy that citizens and student visas can attain a Masters in universities without having to pay $200,000 in tuition. Of course, the taxes are high as shit...

 

Austin is ripe for it. With UT here, big-time college football and b-ball = plenty of black athletes and white party girls lol... then there is 6th St (the rep is true) - the stage is set for anything to spark off. But wit that said - I've seen more IR sets up north than down here in ATX. I actually thought they'd be more down here, but not as much.

Massachusetts and Boston in particular is still a very racially divided area and city. Housing discrimination still goes on, even with it being illegal. Seriously, if you see a black guy living in southie, he's probably the only 1 among over a million irish whites.

With the I/R dating scene, it's even more sketchy. You will always have quite a few I/R couples due to the liberal nature of the state and the many colleges. However most of the college girls in the boston area will date 1 or 2 black guys just to say they have. How many actually have long term relationships or get married to one: very few.

Basically they should have filmed the movie Crash here: Everyone is liberal, free spirited, and non-discriminatory, right up until they get home behind closed doors and are chillin with the fams. Then the whole idea of staying with your own kind gets reinforced, repeatedly. That goes for EVERY culture.

I still do well though so maybe i'm over-stating my evaluation. :tonqe:

It must be lots of fun to live in the Carribean, but what kind of work can one do there...that pays decently???

Lots of interracial couples both black men and white women and white men black women in my neighborhood. Lots and lots of mixed children also.
