My favorite ''Mack Mode" song of all time is "Smooth Operator" by Sade. When was in the Navy I use to listen to this song a dozen times before went ashore to a foreign country. Especially when I was stationed in Japan for 3 1/2 years, it was so surreal, I felt like I was in a dream-world and I was actually trying to LIVE that song!! Well I was young then and thinking back, "Was it such a good idea to to use a song as a crutch"? But then again isn't music suppose inspire and motivate regardless the reason? My favorite "get in mood" club song is "I Wish" by Skee-Lo. Now I'm not a shake-your-booty type of brothah but if the DJ put that song on I'ma hit the flo'. My favorite "get in the mood" for back at the apartment after a date is pretty much any Sade song whether the lyrics fit the mood or not. Most of the time I'll try to find out way before the date what SHE likes and adapt. What are yours?
I absolutely love "Smooth Operator" by Sade, and I actually like all of her albums. I like "Clean Heart" and many of her songs... My get in the mood song is "Freaking You" by Jodeci and the Wu Tang Clan. "You had me harder than a roll of quarters..."
That's a classic. Mine: I Wanna Do Somethin' Freaky to You - Leon Haywood Juicy Fruit - Mtume Do Me Baby - Prince Don't Be Afraid - Aaron Hall Slow Dance - R. Kelly(old school)
Aaron Hall, he's too much. How about his song, "All The Places (I Will Kiss You)" I'd Rather Be With You - Bootsy Collins Feel Like Making Love - Bad Company Several by Marvin Gaye Let's Stay Together - Al Green and a cute little song called "Baby It's Cold Outside" usually done on Christmas albums, the last version I heard was by Brian Setzer ...too many to name as I'm a music maven.
i love will downing...kem...marvin... i just bought alicia keys new cd..."like you'll never see me again" is the most beautiful song...
I'm going to...uh...go now and...uh...do some work...outside..in the clean air and bright sunlit day...yeah..that's it.
Killing Me Softly - The Fugees The original by Roberta Flack was great, but the drum beats in the Fugees gave it ...well, something more to move by.
SmoothDaddy, every time I see your picture, it reminds me of Dennis Hastert. And then I think you must have a deep voice like him. LOL! So do you?
I can't believe I wrote Hastert. LOL! Wow. Good thing you picked up on who I really meant. It must be the whole not having a valentine which is making me have typos. Yes, Dennis Haysbert is who I meant! Pettyofficerj, I like all the pictures you attach with your posts. Very inventive!
I've been a fan of his since he did the movie "Navy Seals," with charlie sheen and michael biehn ( the guy from the movie "Aliens" and Terminator) ...he had a small role in HEAT, with pacino and deniro also.. he now plays the lead role in a show called "The Unit," which focuses on a small group of Special Forces guys and their families.. it's not just an action show..it has some family oriented material to go right alongside everyday combat.. afterall..lots of soldiers who serve this country, have family members back in the rear.. I like his witty banter in The Unit also.. portrays him in a very clever, intelligent, and strong role definitely.. a role typically reserved for a white lead actor/hero type
I forgot he was in Navy SEALs! I loved that movie. I haven't seen it so long. I loved his role on 24 and was very upset that they killed him off. And I didn't realize until a few years ago that he was in Major League. He's such a great actor. He disappears in his roles. I'll have to check out The Unit. Haven't watched that yet.
give it a shot.. it's not all mindless action and c*ck-swaggery, like Navy Seals.. it's an intelligent drama, that forces it's viewers to really think about what the actors are saying and doing.. I own seasons 1 and 2 on dvd, and I still have to watch them, just to figure out some shit they be talking about.. like i said, it's very witty..and you'll start to care about the characters after a while... someone said the show was like a cross between "blackhawk down and desperate housewives" cheating spouses, stray terrorists, shiny guns and babysitters
Dude, that show has everything! I do love shows like that. I rarely watch CBS - I'm an NBC gal mostly - but I will definitely check it out! Thanks!!
Now that you bring it up, maybe a littlebit. Although I'm from Detroit, some people think I have a sophisticated Southern accent. 8)
