I honestly cancelled my Netflix account because they keep raising their rates for the Dolby Atmos • Vision 4K package and the writing was too predictable. You just know they are going to force certain sociopolitical themes into their series/movies regardless if it is plot-plausible or not. Look at season three of "The Witcher" for example. Even if it is done at the expense of quality WW & BM interracial content. Every . . . Single . . . Time. "Stranger Things" will air its final season and you already know what's what because that is all they do.
I also watched every episode of "Selfie" & I don't remember that David Harewood-Natasha Henstridge 'ship either. Was the show mentioned in this thread back in 2014 when it aired?
I just got put onto that Wolé Parks (The brotha that played John Henry on The CW's "Superman & Lois") was a love interest for Roselyn Sanchez's character on the 1st season of the Lifetime series "Devious Maids":
Yes he was and they had crazy chemistry which was so underrated!! She would wear these matching undergarments in Hot Fuschia that set off her Carmel skintone but concealed under a conservative Vanilla Bathrobe . . . can you believe he got paid to do those scenes lol?!? It's been years since I watched that first season . . . might be time to revisit it next after my "1883" rewatch concludes. @ColiBreh1 you are going to really enjoy that series if you liked "Desperate Housewives" so I won't post any spoilers. That series got cancelled too soon I felt.
Netflix Series: Bet 2025 with Miku Martineau and Ayo Solanke: Mixed Asian/White Canadian Female I haven't seen the series yet but its out on Netflix
LOVED this show. Apparently based on a manga called "kakegurui", meaning "compulsive gambler". Thanks for the reco! Also the actress playing Yumeko is 10/10. However as far as the IR goes, I can only say it promises something but does not deliver, without spoiling anything.
Also watched BET found if very entertaining though the acting could be better but what are you gonna do. Spoiler if you wanna watch solely because the ir angle youll be disappointed, Ryan meets yumeko her first day at the school instantly falling for her, the two become friends then we meet michael (the tall handsome white boy you know there had to be one) advised yumeko not to get involved in the gambling. He's a legacy student who hate being there he is just bidding his time till he graduates. Yumeko enlists his help eventually revealing her secrets to him while Ryan seemingly is relegated to solid friendzone. Though there really never seemed to be any romantic or sexual tension between Michael and yumeko. There are moments of romantic tension between ryan and yumeko as the show progresses, particularly episode 4, epiosode 6, and episode 8 ultimately nothing happens between the two this season. The good news is the potential white suitor in the popular ir love triangle troupe that seemingly always comes up in shows is almost certainly out , won't say why because it's an important part of the overall plot and wouldnt want to ruin anything if you do watch the sister of the shows main antagonist the character riri falls for and starts dating another main character mary so there is an ir lesbian relationship I would recommend if your looking for just something entertaining to binge on like the previous poster said its loosely bases on a Japanese series if you've seen the Japanese series though you might be disappointed expecting it to be a .Iive action version it's not it adapted for western audiences but elements have changed Spoiler in the japanese version the ryan character is japanese and admits he's in love with her, she doesn't respond
@mr.roboto and @glt1980, brothers, thank you for the time and effort you put into your reviews. Having read both, I’m going to pass. I have zero trust in these types of shows. Black characters during the renew process with distributors is a meat grinder they typically do not survive intact. So many shows, especially those designed for younger audiences, marginalize (translation: castrate) main cast Black characters. Single Drunk Female, Mayfair Witches, etc….
@Young Herschel I forgot to ask you.... What did you think the Netflix series "Marco Polo"? I noticed that both seasons of the show has 90+% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
My brother liked it and he saw it before I did. It was an impressive undertaking by Harvey Weinstein. I wasn't so happy with the second half of the second season though. It seemed like they knew they weren't doing a third season so they didn't care as much. For 1.5 seasons though I really enjoyed "Marco Polo". I wish Apple were to take it on and give it the backing it deserved. It was ahead of its time in a way.
