One of the glam precursors to the NYC punk scene. I remember seeing his band on SNL in the early 80s and being blown away. Wow. Another great talent lost. R.I.P. RIP Roberta Flack. My mom loves her music.

^^ I just logged on to post this . Such a cultural icon of our lifetime . . . REST IN POWER BIG GEORGE!! He was such a an integral part of the HBO Boxing broadcast of the late 1990's and I truly loved his insight and analysis of the various challengers and champions of the decade. His final fight on HBO vs Shannon Briggs was a historic display of heroism and the echelon of class and grace he showed in defeat when it looked to everyone else that he had been robbed by the judges. He will be forever missed.
On Roy Ayers, I'm sure he holds the tile of the, or are least high up, the most sampled artists ever. I feel you might not know a Roy Ayers track but you'd definitely know a song with a Roy Ayers sample. Or just an influence anyway.
So many! 'Everybody Loves The Sunshine' is still a go-to track for unwinding in the summer. And his later work with the Masters At Work and Nuyorican Soul albums was phenomenal.
