I’m currently awaiting a start date for a new job which probably explains why I’ve been bumping so many threads now I have unlimited free time.

When will you know your start date? Congratulations on the new job. What will you be doing?

That's great. Have you always been interested in health care and care work?

No. I'm not happy with my job. This school year has really sucked for the most part, and I'm tired of being there. I do like the schedule and some aspects of the work itself, but overall I'm miserable majority of the time now. I'm bored to death, it's been a struggle to find reliable help, and schools don't pay enough for the crap we have to deal with these days. It also hasn't helped that public schools have been struggling thanks to asshole politicians who are hellbent on fucking everyone over in order to push their charter and private school agendas.

I've been off for spring break, but I have to go back tomorrow. :( They'd finally found me some good help who's been there since November, but she told us she is looking for another job that pays better and hopes she'll find something soon. I don't blame her though; it's hard as hell to survive these days and only getting harder. I was hoping she'd at least be able to finish out the school year, but that's probably not going to happen. It's depressing. Subs are also hard to find this year. I'm ready for the end of May dammit.

I want to do something else, but I have no idea what—well I do, but it's not an option right now. I can't bear the thought of going back to what I used to do either. I don't know what the hell to do with myself anymore.

Oh Tam, is life not just an absolute bitch :( I'm so sorry you're going through this. It sucks to feel like there was a bit of light at the end of the tunnel and now she's looking to leave. Can you do private consulting? Is that an option? I can't imagine how it must feel for the lucky one's who have been blessed enough to find their passion and calling in life. You're so talented in so many ways lovely. I think you'd make a pretty sexy librarian :-D urgh bloody life hey! I'm 99% sure AI is going to replace my ass in the next two years :( I'm deeply contemplating studying psychology/bachelor of behavioural sciences in July, I've spent the past 10 years with it in the back of my mind and I think I'm just going to do it and hope for the best lol.

Thanks, Becca; you're a sweetheart. Life is indeed an absolute bitch, but I suppose we just have to deal with it best we can. Much easier said than done though. I thought about private consulting at one point, but I have zero interest in the industry anymore—I don't think telling clients 'I don't really fucking care' would be all that good for business. lol I can't imagine how that must feel for the lucky ones either, but I sure do try. It's a shame we can't all make an actual living doing what we love and want to do, but instead have to spend life wasting away at jobs we have no passion for. If it's been on your mind that long, I say go for it and get your study on. Even as tough as things are, it at least sounds like an opportune time, especially with AI creeping up on you and your kiddo getting ready to be on his own. Take that chance for yourself and don't let it pass you by.

Somehow we always just push through the bs that is our lives.

I totally get where you're coming from with consulting, though – if your heart’s not in it anymore, it’s tough to pretend it is and admire your honesty about it.

Yep, it's a real shame that so many of us end up stuck in jobs we don’t care about. I think it’s a huge struggle to balance what we love with what we need to do to survive. But hearing you say that about taking a chance and going for what I’ve been thinking about definitely means a lot. Xxx (though in my usual procrastination state - I've done nothing about it) lol

I really appreciate your encouragement sweets, I just want to hear that you got out of that hell hole and are finally doing something you love. We all deserve that level of satisfaction! Xx

Yep. Pushing through is all we can do.

Take my word for it, it's important not to let the opportunity to get to it pass you by. It will also give you something positive to focus on, which typically leads to better things. Even if you get in there and decide it's not for you, it could lead you to what is.

Anytime, girl, and I appreciate yours as well. I'd also like to hear that about myself, but hopefully something will happen sooner rather than later. Hopefully one of these days, we'll all get the satisfaction we deserve. xo
