It’s funny. I watched that trailer twice and I never noticed the hip-hop score. It just goes to show how ubiquitous rap music is today.

 

It really isn't overwhelming or omnipresent at all and I think it was done minimally just because those paranoid people persist. You know those are the same people who hate that House Velaryon is a predominantly Black family and the wealthiest family on the biggest series of the summer.

 

They were annoyed when they first saw the image of Denzel in resplendent attire as a gladiator sponsor. They would be content with him playing a slave or a servant, regardless of the music.

 

I just looked up "Spartacus" so I think Denzel is playing a Lanista which means Master and Owner of a Ludus ~ School for Gladiators.
