She-Hulk was billed as a comedy/lawyer show from the jump. I don't get people having issues with the lighter & ground level tone for a change considering all comics in a shared universe have different tones/flavors to them. If comedy is not some people's cup of tea all well in good but why the shock as if they didn't know what it was going to be up front. Not only that but all these Marvel Disney + show are strictly "world builders" to help expand the MCU beyond the movies quicker. All these shows have done nothing any different from what they have done in the comics with certain characters showing up outside of their "regular" status quo circumstances & nemesis. Nevermind that the MCU is aimed more towards a non comic reading audience. Hate it or love it the MCU has made comic characters mainstream.

What's to say that the Wrecking Crew won't evolve into the super powered versions from the comics in time? Just like in the comics, there was only ever the Wrecker by himself to begin with. Then eventually as time passed he got the crew to help him try to defeat Thor & engage in other criminal activity. There are plenty of scenarios that
have been set up or could be to make that happen. Everything can't & won't be literal interpretations from the comics out the gate for various reasons.

Based on the award-winning video game, The Last of Us takes place 20 years after a deadly epidemic ravages civilization.

 

It's not that I have an issue with changes from the comics to the screen. (I thought the changes to Ms. Marvel were for the better.) I was also aware that She-Hulk was going to be a comedy (to be real the entire MCU is a comedy) But even though it is silly, it still exists in the MCU, which means characters and storylines from this show are now MCU canon. I would love it if The Wrecking Crew get juiced up by the end of the season, but I'm not holding my breath.

I can sit here typing all day the list of MCU changes from the comics I don't like, but ever since Tony Stark said "I am Iron Man" at the end of the first Iron Man I knew the MCU was going to be different. Knowing that however, isn't going to stop me from nerd complaining about things that could be better.

Trust me, I'm well aware that the MCU is aimed at casual non-comic reading people, that's why so many people had trouble understanding that Chadwick Boseman and T'Challa aren't the same people, and just because the actor playing the character tragically passed away, doesn't mean the character should also die.

 

You good bro. I wasn't trying to highlight you or any critiques you have with the MCU in my posts. It was more or less directed towards the ongoing online outrage & hate people have been expressing since the beginning of MCU Phase Four in general. I have my nitpicks with the MCU (and DCEU) as well but they aren't so big for me that I feel like airing them.

The Blood Origin of The Witcher: Inside Netflix's Prequel Event Series


The first scribblings for the Witcher spin-off series came from a napkin in a café in November 2019. Declan de Barra, the creator, loves telling this story because it never happens like this in Hollywood. It may never happen to him again. More than likely an official final one & done deal especially if they actually get him in some type of comic accurate suit. Mask included.

 

Yeah, i've seem some people online speculate that this is Hugh Jackman signing on to play Wolverine in the MCU, but I think it's probably more of an extended cameo/swan song.

It really wouldn't make sense to bring Hugh back to a new series of movies as the "ageless" hero when he is really starting to look his real-life age.

You know what I'd like to see? Fox universe Wolverine meeting the new MCU Wolverine (we are in the Multiverse saga.)

 

I can see Marvel/Disney doing some fan service type thing down the road once the new MCU Wolverine is introduced with who ever it is, an aged up Fox Universe X-23 & Jackman as an alternate version Old Man Logan meeting. All they would need to do is gray out Jackman's hair if it's not already naturally that way under a dye job.

 

They can bring him back for Secret Wars.

Now I want a Wesley Snipes Cameo in DPIII as call back to Trinity lol.

I wonder when the first new mutant casting will show up in the MCU. Blade is possible, Wolverine can show up in the past and that movie is rumored to be in the early 1900s

Marvel’s Armor Wars Upgraded From Disney+ Series to Feature Film



The upcoming Marvel Studios feature Armor Wars, originally planned as a six-episode Disney+ TV series, is being reworked to a theatrical movie.

As reported by THR, the project will retain its star Don Cheadle, reprising his long-running Marvel Cinematic Universe role as James Rhodes aka War Machine, as well as its head writer Yassir Lester. Although no release window for Armor Wars had been announced when the change was made, it's expected that it will now be pushed back in Marvel's slate of upcoming features.

Armor Wars was announced in 2020 as part of Disney's Investor Day 2020, with its logo being revealed more recently, at Disney's D23 Expo. The show was intended to adapt the 1987 arc from Marvel Comics in which Tony Stark -- played by Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU until the character's death in Avengers: Endgame -- discovered that his armor technology had fallen into the wrong hands and was being used by villains for their own nefarious purposes. Iron Man and his allies subsequently entered into an arms race to protect the world from the advanced weapons he had created. The popular Armor Wars comic story was written by Bob Layton and David Micheline with illustration by Mark D. Bright and Barry Windsor-Smith.

Cheadle described the Armor Wars adaptation saying, "And as Marvel does, it's also an opportunity to take the mythology and tip it on its head a little bit and come up with different ways to tell the story, so it's doing that and has done that in spades." The actor also addressed the differences between his character Rhodey and Tony in spite of the close friendship they shared: "I don't know, I mean I think that Rhodey is his own dude. I don't think that anyone can really step into Tony Stark or Iron Man's shoes, I think he did that as well as anyone could ever do it. But I think we're going to learn a lot about what Rhodey does want and who he is and what his... place in the firmament of MCU will ultimately be."

The Armor Wars movie will take its place in an ever-growing list of interconnected stories coming from Marvel Studios, including Secret Invasion, which will star Cheadle alongside Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn, likewise returning to their roles from previous movies. Secret Invasion is set to premiere on Disney+ in 2023.

A release date for Armor Wars has not yet been announced.

DC Celebrates 80 Years of Aquaman


DC has put together a deluxe hardcover collection of Aquaman comics that covers the character’s more than 80-year history; he first appeared in More Fun Comics #73 in 1941, so their anniversary celebration is a bit late. Nonetheless, Aquaman: 80 Years of the King of the Seven Seas The Deluxe Edition covers a good chunk of Aquaman’s history, with stories from Aquaman #0-37, JLA: Our Worlds at War #1, Aquaman #17, Outsiders: Five of a Kind - Metamorpho/Aquaman #1, Adventure Comics #120-137, 232-266, 269-475, More Fun Comics #73, Aquaman #11-35, 46-62, Aquaman #1; Aquaman #1; Aquaman Special #1 and Aquaman #25.

Creators whose work is represented include Mort Weisinger, Paul Kupperberg, Peter David, and Geoff Johns, and artists Paul Norris, Ramona Fradon, Craig Hamilton, and Jim Calafiore, among many others.

The cover is by Jim Lee and Scott Williams. The 440-page hardcover will go on sale on February 14, 2023, with an MSRP of $29.99.

 

The Next Planet of the Apes Movie


The next Planet of the Apes movie is coming into focus, with 20th Century Studios confirming the cast for the newly titled Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes. The film, from director Wes Ball, will star Owen Teague alongside newly announced cast members Freya Allen and Peter Macon. It is slated for a 2024 release.

Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes picks up many years after War for the Planet of the Apes, the 2017 feature that concluded the previous trilogy and used motion capture technology to tell the origin story of Caesar, a chimp that leads the simians toward revolution. Andy Serkis starred as Caesar, with Matt Reeves directing the final two installments to critical acclaim.

 

The Rings Of Power Has The Nielsen Ratings To Rule Them All


The two buzziest genre projects on TV right now are finally having their first viewership battle.

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon” and Amazon Prime Video’s “The Lord of the Rings” expansion “The Rings of Power” both appeared on Nielsen’s streaming rankings for the week of Aug. 29-Sept. 4, with “The Rings of Power” coming out on top — taking the No. 1 position with 1.3 billion minutes viewed. “House of the Dragon” was behind it, ranking as No. 5 and being watched for 781 million minutes, 61% less than its rival. (Note: Nielsen measures only U.S. viewing on television screens, excluding other countries and devices.)

What the streaming data seems to indicate is that a lot of viewers have been watching or rewatching "Game of Thrones" on HBO Max as they get back into the world of Westeros through the prequel "House of the Dragon."

For its part, "The Rings of Power" has given Prime Video a #1 hit, which is good news for it and fans considering how much money they've poured into this show, enough to make it the most expensive TV series ever produced. At the end of the day, that's the only thing that really matters here: the extent to which the show's success might affect its future.

As far as the popularity contest between the two shows goes, these numbers are a little more solid than the review-bombing of "The Rings of Power."

In the streaming age, the concept of TV "ratings" isn't what it used to be, with reports circulating this week that Warner Bros., for instance, cooked the books for its HBO Max subscriber numbers. People watch shows in different ways now; we're not all crowded in front of the television set to watch black-and-white sitcoms while eating TV dinners with family anymore.

That said, Nielsen is a third-party service, so the ratings it provides can theoretically be trusted more, and it should make the Harfoots happy that they aren't going to get left behind as they continue their journey in "The Rings of Power" on Prime Video.

 

I am very happy to hear such rewarding news about "The Rings of Power". I so look forward to starting the Amazon series again this December. I just want to focus my medieval fantasy fandom on one show at a season and stretch my $$$ further. Sure hope Netflix doesn't complicate my decision to wait too much with "Witcher: Blood Origins" premiering next month maybe?!?
