Marvel Comics To Release New Adam Warlock Omnibus In April '23

Marvel Comics will collect the 1970s Adam Warlock stories from the many titles in which the character appeared into a single hardcover omnibus volume. Adam Warlock Omnibus will be released in two editions, a direct market-only edition with a Jim Starlin cover, and the regular edition with a Gil Kane cover. Both will include 904 pages and retail for $125 MSRP.

The creator roster is a listing of Silver Age all-stars, including writers Stan Lee, Roy Thomas, Mike Friedrich & Jim Starlin with Ron Goulart, Gerry Conway, Tony Isabella, Bill Mantlo, David Anthony Kraft, and Mark Gruenwald; and artists Jack Kirby, Gil Kane & Jim Starlin with Bob Brown, Herb Trimpe, Jerry Bingham, John Buscema, and John Byrne.

The volume will collect Fantastic Four (1961) #66-67, Thor (1966) #165-166, Marvel Premiere #1-2, Warlock (1972) #1-15, Incredible Hulk (1968) #176-178 and Annual #6, Strange Tales (1951) #178-181, Marvel Team-Up (1972) #55, Avengers Annual #7 and Marvel Two-in-One (1972) #61-63 and Annual #2.

DC To Collect Batman/Catwoman Saga


DC is collecting Tom King and Clay Mann’s Batman/Catwoman saga in a single hardcover edition. The collection covers three different periods in their relationship: The first time sparks flew, the present day (in which one of Batman’s old flames complicates things), and the future, with their daughter Helena, the Batwoman. It includes Batman/ Catwoman #1-12, the Batman/Catwoman Special, Batman Annual #2, Catwoman 80th Anniversary 100-Page Super Spectacular #1, and Detective Comics #1027.

The 424-page hardcover will go on sale on December 13 with an MSRP of $39.99, and there will be a direct market-exclusive variant with an acetate cover based on the cover of Batman/Catwoman #12.

 

HBO Max Renews Harley Quinn For Season 4


DC’s Harley Quinn will return to HBO Max.

The streamer has renewed the adult animated series for a fourth season. It comes ahead of the season three finale on September 15.

The renewal is good news for DC fans who subscribe to the digital service, coming after the furor surrounding the axing of Batgirl and the revelation that the animated series Batman: Caped Crusader, from J.J. Abrams, Matt Reeves, and Bruce Timm, is not moving forward.

The third season of the show, which features Kaley Cuoco as the voice of Harley Quinn, sees her and Lake Bell-voiced Poison Ivy wrap up their Eat. Bang! Kill. Tour and return to Gotham as the new power couple of DC villainy. Along with their ragtag crew – King Shark (Ron Funches), Clayface (Alan Tudyk), Frank the Plant (JB Smoove) – Harlivy strives to become the best version of themselves while also working towards Ivy’s long-desired plan of transforming Gotham into an Eden paradise.

The Rings of Power Premiere Draws 25M Global Viewers

Amazon broke a long-held precedent Saturday by revealing viewership data for a Prime Video series for the first time ever, making the exception of remaining tight-lipped about its internal TV ratings for its big-budget “The Lord of the Rings” TV series.

According to the e-commerce giant, “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” was viewed by 25 million viewers globally over the initial 24 hours that the TV series’ first two episodes were available for streaming on Prime Video in 240 countries and territories.

Amazon’s “The Rings of Power” debuted globally on Sept. 1 and Sept. 2, depending on what territory and time zone Prime customers were streaming from across the world. The first two episodes dropped at 6 p.m. PT/ 9 p.m. ET Thursday.

In its release announcing the “Rings of Power” premiere viewership, Amazon did not specify how it measures a view, nor how much of an episode a user needs to watch to count as a viewer.

With Amazon never before releasing numbers for a Prime Video series and only Nielsen’s Top 10 streaming data for popular series like “Reacher” and “The Boys” to use as a third-party benchmark for success for the streamer, it’s hard to say just how big of a hit “The Rings of Power” is for Prime Video. However, Amazon said Saturday that “Rings of Power’s” performance broke “all previous records, marking the biggest premiere in the history of Prime Video.”

Rings of Power’ Cast Slams Racist Threats Against Performers: “Middle-Earth Is Not All White”


The cast of Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power is united in speaking out about racist threats that performers from the show have apparently faced.

A message posted to the project’s Twitter account Wednesday strongly condemned racist reactions to the series’ cast members of color. The statement emphasized that, despite online criticisms to the contrary, author J.R.R. Tolkien created a “multi-cultural” world in which individuals from different backgrounds and races could join forces for good.

“We, the cast of Rings of Power, stand together in absolute solidarity and against the relentless racism, threats, harassment, and abuse some of our castmates of color are being subjected to on a daily basis,” the statement read. “We refuse to ignore it or tolerate it.”

The message continued, “JRR Tolkien created a world which, by definition, is multi-cultural. A world in which free peoples from different races and cultures join together, in fellowship, to defeat the forces of evil. Our world has never been all white, fantasy has never been all white, Middle-earth is not all white.”

The Hollywood Reporter previously reported that reviews on Amazon had been suspended amid complaints from viewers about the show’s diversity; Rings of Power currently holds a strong 85 percent approval rating from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, but its audience score on the site is at a mere 39 percent. According to an Amazon source, reviews were held for 72 hours to verify the legitimacy of each critical assessment.
