Dynamite to Develop Comics and Game Based on Fire and Ice


Dynamite Entertainment is teaming up with the Frazetta Girls brand and Bakshi Productions to produce comics and tabletop games based on the 1983 film Fire and Ice, which was developed from the art of Frank Frazetta and animated by Ralph Bakshi.

Written by Gerry Conway and Roy Thomas, both veterans of Conan the Barbarian comics, Fire and Ice followed the adventures of Princess Teegra, who was kidnapped by the ice queen, and the barbarian Larn, who helps her after she escapes and follows her through a series of adventures involving a giant squid, a mysterious masked warrior, and a climactic battle that unleashes a volcano against the ice queen’s glacier fortress.

The comic series will be a prequel to the film, picking up on the themes and ideas and perhaps some of the characters as well. While the creative team has yet to be announced, the cover will feature Frazetta’s original painting that was used to develop the visuals for the film and later became the movie poster. The comics will debut in 2023, to coincide with the 40th anniversary of the film's release.

Dynamite also plans a tabletop RPG that will be based on the film.

 

Yeah, I’m taking this with a grain of salt. But, if I were to take this article at face value, there are two very important takeaways, here:

1. 87% of the #ReleaseTheSnydercut fandom engagement was real and organic. Considering how much of Twitter are actually bots, that’s an impressive number.
2. For once, despite a big corporate conglomerate’s best efforts, the artist beat the mega-corp at it’s own game. And, I’m never going to have a problem with that.

With all of that said, even though I didn’t think Snyder’s take on the DC’s heroes was a particularly good one, the Snydercut was objectively the superior film. By a long way. I thought, while not great, it was good (especially if one can get over their attachment to the source material).

I really think the execs fucked themselves over and are looking for some kind of retribution against Snyder. Which, hopefully, backfires on them as well.

Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves





The film stars Chris Pine, Regé Jean-Page, Hugh Grant, Michelle Rodriguez, and Sophia Lillis.

 

Funny but true. lol.

 

Clever, but I disagree with some of the choices. Eddie Murphy never would have taken a role where he wasn't in the top billing in the 90s. Leonardo DiCaprio was kind of scrawny in the 90s, Brad Pitt as well. Also Denzel Wahington as Black Panther? C'mon whoever did that wasn't even trying.

Falcon would have been Will Smith, he wasn't so big in the 90s that he would have to be top billed. Thor would have been Dolph Lundgren, there really wasn't any other choice for a large blonde tough guy in the 90s. Lastly, Captain America would have been some tall, well-built, all-American-looking actor, like the guy who played the rocketeer, Billy Campbell. And there was a severe lack of Black actors who could have pulled off an African accent in the 90s, so the obvious choice would have been Djimon Hounsou as T'Challa.
