Moon Knight

Storyline:

In “Moon Knight,” premiering on March 30, Oscar Isaac plays Marc Spector, an ex-soldier with a profound case of dissociative identity disorder that manifests as fully distinct individuals. He becomes the conduit for the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, which only further exacerbates Marc's anxiety over his mental illness.

 

I definitely agree about the Netflix vs Disney+ series. Disney is always softening any harsher edges for their inevitable merchandising push. I’m glad to see Vincent D’Onofrio make the transition! It gives me hope that management is moving things in the right direction.

 

I loved the series, so I’m willing to give the spin-off a chance.

 

Netflix's "The Last Kingdom" is considered the better Vikings/Anglo-Saxons historical drama show, so I feel this "Vikings" spinoff will just be overshadowed by "The Last Kingdom".

Raising Dion Season 2

Raising Dion follows the story of Nicole (Alisha Wainwright) and her son Dion (Ja'Siah Young) after Dion starts to manifest several mysterious, superhero-like abilities.

 

Season 2 trailer looks really cool. If they scale back the identity politics of this show they can have something here. Dion and Esperanza has such a cute and warm friendship worthy of checking this out on it's own.

 

New Moon Knight Anthology

This April, Marvel Comics launches the four-issue anthology Moon Knight: Black, White, and Blood - delving into the dark side of the Fist of Khonshu, as well as his potential replacement.

Hickman and Bachalo's story will introduce a new Moon Knight, taking place sometime in the near future - but apparently unrelated to the recently introduced other Fist of Khonshu, Hunter's Moon, introduced in the main moon Knight ongoing comic book series.

In comic books, Marc Spector (and his various alternate identities such as Steven Grant) has been the main Moon Knight - but there have been instances of others taking up the Moon Knight mantle.

An unnamed man fought as Moon Knight in ancient Egyptian times, and there have been at least two occasions where a woman has taken up the Moon Knight mantle - including the famous Marvel future 2099.

Moon Knight: Black, White, and Blood is the latest in a series of black-and-white-and-color-accented Marvel Comics anthologies subtitled 'Black, White, and Blood' - following the previous series for Deadpool, Wolverine, Carnage, and Elektra.

The trend has even included DC, with color-coded anthologies including Wonder Woman: Black & Gold, Superman: Red & Blue, and Harley Quinn: Black + Red + White.

DC's Death of the Justice League Kills Nine Major Heroes in All



DC has revealed the shocking news that April's Justice League #75 will be the death of the Justice League, and they're not talking about the Justice League as a concept, the company plans to have a large number of major DC superheroes all die in a deadly battle, with a shocking nine superheroes set to lose their lives.

The writer of the upcoming event (and the writer of both Infinite Frontier and the current Justice League Incarnate series), Joshua Williamson, revealed to Entertainment Weekly, "Ever since Infinite Frontier #0, we've been building to this story. Last year was a lot of fun and games, but when this story starts, it's the beginning of the third act. We're going to see things get darkest before the dawn. The Justice League gets called in to fight this Dark Army that's been building on the edge of the multiverse. They go up against this Dark Army and they lose."

The heroes that will be going on this mission to face off against the Dead Army are the following ten iconic superheroes: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (John Stewart), Martian Manhunter, Hawkgirl, Aquaman, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and Zatanna. Of those ten heroes, only one will be returning to let the rest of the world know what happened to their colleagues.

It is no coincidence that this issue will be the 75th issue of the Justice League, nor is it a coincidence that this is occurring in 2022, as it is the 30th anniversary of Superman #75, the famous conclusion to "The Death of Superman," where the Man of Steel fell in battle against the vicious alien monster known as Doomsday.

Williamson references that classic Superman issue and explained its impact here, I remember the experience of reading the build-up to 'The Death of Superman' and then waiting in the rain for my copy of issue #75. I think one reason that story was so powerful was that after the 'Funeral for a Friend' story, there were no Superman comics for three months. That's part of what led us to make the decision that this is the last issue of Justice League. But then three months later, there's still not gonna be a Justice League comic. It's gonna be a while, and that's gonna be a major part of what the DCU looks like after this story: There is no Justice League."

No matter which hero survives the battle, that means the DC Universe will be without some of its very biggest characters, which will give the newer heroes, like Superman's son, Jon Kent, and the new Wonder Girl, Yara Flor, to step into the spotlight a bit more.

 

@Ra I mean I assume this won't impact solos if it does I doubt it hurts Batman...this kinda sucks for characters that have long gaps from being on the Justice Leauge ie John Stewart, Martian Manhunter, Black Canary, Green Arrow, and Zatanna...

As far as solo books go it could impact them since most of them seem to currently have "extended family" on some level to replace the heroes for however long they are "dead". Batman is no exception especially since he has more side kicks & affiliates they could use to step in the role like they did in the 90's with Knightfall or a few years back with Final Crisis after Darkseid seemingly killed Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson became the new Batman with Damien as his Robin.

 

Godzilla's MonsterVerse Lands Live-Action Series at Apple



A live-action series starring the MonsterVerse's Godzilla and the Titans is coming to Apple from Legendary Television.

As reported by Variety, the series is currently untitled but will expand on Legendary's MonsterVerse from films like Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters and the most recent installment in 2021, Godzilla vs. Kong. Co-created and executive produced by Chris Black and Matt Fraction, the series unpacks the effects of the battle in Godzilla (2014), which saw the King of the Monsters and the Titans decimate San Francisco. The show will follow one family's journey to discover the truth behind the secrets that link them to Monarch, the secret organization featured heavily in the MonsterVerse.

Black will also serve as the showrunner, with Safehouse Pictures' Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell executive producing as well. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arito from Toho Co. Ltd., the company that owns the Godzilla character and licensed him to Legendary Pictures, will also serve as executive producers on the series. Further details on how Apple will bring Godzilla to the small screen have not yet been revealed.

Godzilla vs. Kong was the fourth installment in Legendary's MonsterVerse in 2021, preceded by Godzilla (2014), Kong: Skull Island (2017) and Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019). The film proved to be a box office success despite premiering during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, making it one of the first pandemic-era films to cross the $400 million mark at the global box office. Following the success of Godzilla vs. Kong, Legendary Entertainment CEO Josh Grode confirmed that the company would be further exploring the cinematic universe.

Godzilla vs. Kong writer, Max Borenstein, also teased in August 2021 that there would be further additions to the MonsterVerse. "I've heard some exciting things that are happening that I can't divulge," he said. Borenstein also claimed that Legendary has "a great handle on things," with "new, interesting installments coming," though he did not confirm what those installments would be.

"I think it was really wonderful timing for people to have that towards the end of that surge in the pandemic, people really felt eager to see something that was fun and joyful in the cinema and it was really exciting to have our movie be that movie," Borenstein said of Godzilla vs. Kong.

This untitled MonsterVerse series is not Legendary's first foray into television, with a Skull Island anime currently in the works at Netflix. The series does not yet have a release date, but will be animated by Powerhouse Animation.


Surprised this is going on Apple TV rather than Netflix considering the 2 different Godzilla animes & upcoming Skull Island anime for that platform.

Prime Video also released a trailer for The Boys Presents: Diabolical, its new adult animated anthology series tied to the live-action series and the graphic novels. All eight episodes, running 12-14 minutes each, will drop on March 4.
