The lady on the left is Nicole De Boer. She played Ezri Dax after the lady on the right left the show. The man in the middle hooked up with her on the show but that did not last.



Both Ezri and Jadzia (Terry's character) were not related. They are of the Trill species (notice the markings on their bodies). The reason why they had the last name Dax is because they had a symbiote named Dax (a slug like creature) implanted inside them. The symbiote can live centuries. It absorbs all the experiences that its host lives out. When that host dies (or is somehow removed while the host is still alive) that symbiote is placed in another person. When the symbiote is passed on to a new host that symbiote absorbs all the experiences and knowledge of the new host while the new host absorbs all the experiences and knowledge of the previous host such as marriages, giving birth and raising children and even a wizard at playing piano thanks to the symbiote. As the symbiote is passed from host to host each new host absorbs experiences and the feelings and knowledge of all of its previous hosts. So when Ezri was given the Dax symbiote she absorbed everything from that symbiote's previous hosts, INCLUDING JADZIA'S FEELINGS FOR WORF!. So you can imagine that situation with Ezri's interactions with Worf.
