Not surprised that they didn't go with a Hemsworth type considering James Gunn more than likely had some say on the casting to fit the story he's telling, especially since none of the Sovereign looked like the buff type to begin with. I'm assuming he'd be their interpretation of "ideal being". As for power level they could go multiple directions depending on what future plans, if any, they have for the character beyond GOTG 3. They could literally take from the comics and have him start at a somewhat moderate power level, "die" (multiple times) and seal himself back inside the cocoon (or a self generated version of it) resurrecting himself at a more powerful level than what he was prior to his "death/deaths". That's pretty much what they have done with the character over the years, especially when they kill him off for a period of time.
I hope he is god-tier from the start, but I hope they come up with a storyline that fits his cosmic-level powers. I don't want a repeat of the "convenient" way they kept Captain Marvel on the sidelines in the last two Avengers movies because they goofed up and made her too powerful to fit the story.
All characters basically got nerfed from their comic books. So I am more about how you stack up relative to your movie franchise and the overall MCU. So Steve Rogers and Captain Marvel come across as buffed to me. Carol is obviously massively buffed. While T'Challa and the Hulk are nerfed.
In my opinion, the reason that classic Captain America comes across as buffed in the MCU was because they dropped the ball when they depicted his origin in his debut movie. In the comics, he was given his power by the super-soldier serum, but his ability to utilize his power came from training with the best fighters and tacticians on the planet. In the movie, he went from wimp-to-pimp in 5 seconds without showing us his training. But as for the rest of the MCU heroes, you are right, especially the Hulk. I hope in the future we get to see the Hulk really cut loose.
Yeah he does lack the tactical genius of the comic version but the MCU doesn't tend to use complicated tactics where a Cap, T'challa or Cyclops sort would get to shine. Sadly. That is a good a point though. Physically he looks buffed is more my point relative to the other Heroes. Speaking of nerfs though Loki got massively nerfed in his tv show from where he was in Avengers.
Is it true that the new "Halloween" film coming out this month & the last 1 that came out in 2018 are retcon films? I saw someone mention they're sequels to the original 1978 film, but they ignore all the sequels in the original films series.
Yes that is correct. The Halloween that came out prior to this one was done as a total retcon as a sequel to the John Carpenter Moustapha Akkad original like Lionsgate tried to do with Texas Chainsaw Unrated with Alexandra Daddario which ignored all the sequels to the original by Tobe Hopper. It exclusively streaming on Peacock supposedly but I'm good lol. I will watch the Blu-Ray DVDs of Rob Zombie's "Halloween" Unrated Director's Cut and its sequel which I hated but the reviews said this version is much better than the theater version which made no sense whatsoever lol. Plenty of gore and graphic sex scenes in both of them so I know they're worth the purchase price with the enhanced soundtrack in HD Master Audio.
Do these new retcon films ignore "Halloween 2" from 1981? "Halloween 2" takes place later the same night as as the OG 1978 film & I believe is also looked as a classic, so it would be egregious AF for "Halloween 2" to be be ignored.
The latest Gotham Knights trailer from DC FanDome revealed the new threat Nightwing, Robin, Batgirl, and Red Hood must face.
I gave the first retcon Halloween flick a chance. Didn't like it. Not interested in seeing this one at all. The originals Halloween I & II are untouchable. GREAT story telling. Re-telling it for whatever reason was not a good idea. The same goes with Rob Zombie's version. Some originals are just untouchable.
I'm here to tell you . . . if you have NOT seen the Unrated Director's cut of the 2007 Halloween . . . then you are in for a delight. I'm a horror movie connoisseur in this decade of my life and there are very few horror teen slasher movies of the elite echelon . . . but the Unrated Director's Cut by Rob Zombie is one of them!! I cannot stand movies which absolutely insult the ordinary intelligence of the audience . . . I'm not here for Michel Myers stealing a car and driving back to Haddonfield, IL (Halloween 4) after he has been locked away since 8 years old in the original by John Carpenter & Moustapha Akkad. He would either get lost or crash the car!!! The version I bought on Blu-Ray has Dolby True HD soundtrack on the first one and DTS - Hi Def Master Audio on the sequel as it was available by then. I'm here for the Unrated Director's cut because, unlike any of the previous "Halloween" movies, it has a plausible scenario for Michael Myers to escape institutional custody . . . I need to believe that he could escape at that particular opportunity and not just for whatever reason decide to go Hercules one day and physically break his restraints. The verison I champion has the act of criminal violence provided the emotional catalyst for this gigantic DYFS kid to break his semi-catatonic state and explode with years of pent up violent energy!! I need that lol to make some sense of the movie and I like how Rob Zombie said "In my rendition of 'Halloween'. . . the overgrown kid psycho doesn't drive"
