Something I just noticed in passing, when having a convo on a different thread about how Black American politicians need to consider the race of their partner before pursuing their career in politics. From what I've heard, having a black partner is considered more practical than marrying-out in the political limelight i.e. Barry and Michelle While across the pond, it seems quite the opposite, I estimate more than 80% of Black British politicians have non-black partners, I'll continue to search for one that actually has a black partner.. so far I've found none, lol (Mixed-race) Chuka Umunna Liberal-Democrat MP for Streatham, London (and wife Alice Sullivan Umunna) Bim Afolami Conservative MP for Hitchin and Harpenden (and wife Hetti Afolami) Shaun Bailey Conservative London Mayor-candidate (and wife Ellie Bailey David Lammy Labour MP for Tottenham (and wife Nicola Green, who's a famous portrait painter).
(Mixed-race) Vaughan Gething Labour MP for Cardiff South (and wife Michelle Gething). (Mixed Race) Marvin Rees, Mayor of Bristol (and Wife Kirsten Rees, pictured with their kids 'taking a knee' in solidarity with BLM). (Mixed-race) James Cleverly, Army Vet and Conservative MP for Braintree (and Wife Susannah Temple Cleverly)
Adam Afriyie, Conservative MP for Windsor (and wife Tracy-Jane Afriyie) Trevor Phillips Former Labour politician, suspended for not being "woke" enough (and wife Helen Veale). and I've finally found a black British politician with a Black wife (Mixed-Race) Paul Boateng, Labour MP for Brent South (Retired), one of the first Black politicians in the UK (and wife Janet Boateng)
Interesting thread. A black male politician in the US couldn't get elected dog catcher with a white woman on his arm. As we can see by our new VPOTUS the double standard is now on display in the White House.
Doubtful. The Protected Class can do what it wants while the Black Man is expected to remain on the plantation.
Oh yeah, I've seen a rare few US politicians with white wives; Daniel Cameron, Attorney General of Kentucky, married to Makenze Evans Jerome Adams, US Surgeon General with wife Lacey Adams and children
I forgot all about Cameron. The Community was mad that he didn't go after the cops that allegedly killed Breonna Taylor. But Taylor's mother took a cash settlement a.k.a. hush money. Then he put out a Christmas video with himself and his new wife as if to say eff you. LOL. How could I have forgotten that?
I read the Dems are trying to take him down, Grand Jurors for Breonna Taylor's case have petitioned to impeach him.
James Cleverly has the best chance out of all of them, with the largest support and current recognition from his Party.
I mean you take the money cause Civil Cases are easy to win whereas Criminal Cases almost never convict corrupt cops. Or do you think the City is paying out millions for the case cause they think their cops are so innocent? Civil Cases are basically court of public opinion. So yeah he was a sellout cause the Prosecutor has a great deal of control over what the Grand Jury Decides.
I used to think that, but it looks like that has changed. Other examples: Dem U.S. congressman for my district (TX-32) Colin Allred GOP U.S. Congressman for FL-19 Byron Donalds GOP 2018 & 2020 nominee for Michigan U.S. Senate John James Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas
