The CW announced they're doing a "Black Lightning" spinoff series about Painkiller: https://tvline.com/2020/11/12/painkiller-series-black-lightning-spinoff-jordan-calloway-the-cw/ The article also mentioned that The CW is still having conversations about the "Green Arrow and the Canaries" spinoff series.
Seems kinda random to me. I mean I like the actor but not who I thought would get a spinoff. Not really a character with much lore to mine either
The fact that Painkiller as a character doesn't have a very deep comic book history may be exactly why they picked him for a spinoff. Considering how many non comic book canon changes that they make to some of the characters & their backstories for these TV shows, Painkiller is a blank canvas they can paint the way they want without getting the normal angry backlash from fanboy purists about any changes they make with the character. Similar to the new black Batwoman. No such character in the comics, so no one can really bitch about how they shape that character & her backstory.
I hope they give him more of a superhero costume and less of a bland tactical outfit. That shits basic af. Does not have to be something crazy. Just give him something unique and imaginative.
Below is a new promo for the The Stand series, which premieres on CBS All Access on December 17. The nine-episode drama will drop new episodes weekly on Thursdays.
