I think the idea that this will replace human to human interaction and every young man will become an incel or something is a bit overblown. Heck, us women have had these kinds of devices for a very long time! lol and that hasnt happened to us

Never said it would replace everyone. You guys aren't listening. I'm saying for those with the most difficulty meeting women getting women to want to like them this will be an alternative and more likely an alternative that will replace a lot of traditional dating because its both cheaper and a lot less taxing. For those of us who dating is a bit easier fir, we don't feel the sting of constant rejection and lonliness like some people. Men are withdrawing because they don't have support for when shit is hard. And yes women have toys but your need are much much deeper than sex. Not saying men don't need more but it goes back to that one vs a thousand philosophy.
It can't replace women for guys that aren't getting laid anyway. You can't replace what you aren't able to get in the first place.
That doesn't make sense. I may not be able to walk but a wheelchair gets me from point a to point b. That's what we're talking about here. A way to feel affection and a way to release fluids. Is it ideal? No. But again neither one of us is dealing with multitude of rejection younger men are feeling. From what I keep reading 80 percent of the women want only the top 20 percent of men. Where does that leave everyone else?
You can simply use words properly. Replace shouldn't be used. If you're saying guys that can't get laid will just give up and use tech for the rest of their lives then of course I agree. Thats not a replacement. That's just something to help them endure the lifetime of dry spell that they were in anyway. If course they will be devoted to whatever tech they can get.
I thought it worked because even for those who may have had a reasonable shot tech might be more attractive. Depends on how much you value relationships vs the pain getting there. It's hard to assess what we would or wouldn't do because the option was available when we were younger. Its a big reason so many turned to online dating which if we're honest has essentially replaced traditional courting. All part of convenience and avoiding pain.
A reasonable shot? Well a guy with a decent job and whatever else he has going, once he is happy in his work and stability what else do you think he is going for next? What do we like? Sports, cars and ............? It would simply be instinctive for guys to expand on a social life at that point and for 90+ percent of them that means women. We are layered beings. Once our lower self has been satisfied our higher needs continue to drive us just as much. A layer peels back but it's the same onion.

In economics you can tell if an item is a substitute mathematically, but in order to determine if an item is a substitute, the other item it's replacing must be available and attainable to begin with. You can't replace what you don't have. At that point you can simply measure changes in demand vs price when both items are available. Look at the slope of the line, if it's curved take the derivative. If the item is not available, then you aren't able to make a determination to begin with, unless you just happen to have access to the right data. For the tech we are discussing, no data is even available right now because it hasn't even come to market.

If westworld level sex robots existed, both men and women would probably replace each other to some degree. But, it isn’t about replacement, per se, it is about finding a more drama-free option. And I find it amusing the routes people are taking. Tinder is technically a drama free option. Just sex, no relationship, no drama, etc.
