Another agenda driven flop. Can't wait to see the numbers and all the blame will be on men being sexist. Popcorn ready
And we're gonna ignore a much more established and sought after black male for an unknown black female. Agenda blarringly clear
When this shit flops like Wrinkle in Time I wonder if they'll finally get it. You want a dope female led spy movie create one without this lame attempt to replace men and then call it sexist when challenged. Well like I said I'm done with American cinema and tv for now. Let them push there empty power grab agenda. They don't get they NEED men for this shit to be successful other women simply aren't interested in this shit enough to make it hot. Good luck to them
The more I read about this, the more I get the vibe that they're going to spin her off into her own movies under a different designation (006?). She's 007 at the beginning of the film, but Bond comes back and re-assumes the 007 designation. Europeans are usually smarter about feminists issues than we are. Not so all or nothing. Plus, I don't see the owners of the franchise willing to risk killing their golden goose. This is an attempt to nullify the calls for a black Bond. They can point to her and say, "Look, we have a black super agent in the franchise." Now, they can keep Bond and all of that alpha male, white woman magnate swagger, firmly in the hands of a the white male. This knocks Idris (and any other black actor) out of the running for the next Bond. That's their strategy and it's working beautifully for them.
she's not exactly replacing Bond on screen. Just taking his number supposedly. There will be no Bond movies starring this chick. That said...more ass kissing of black chicks by Hollywood. Also in this very thread did I not write of black actresses very early in their careers getting these huge opportunities that aren't afforded young black actors?
..Ms Bond. 'Bond 25' will reportedly star Lashana Lynch as next 007 'Speaking to the Mail on Sunday, a film insider disclosed that the British actress will be introduced during a "pivotal" scene in the movie. "There is a pivotal scene at the start of the film where M says, 'Come in 007,' and in walks Lashana who is black, beautiful and a woman," the insider told the publication... "It's a popcorn-dropping moment. Bond is still Bond but he's been replaced as 007 by this stunning woman," they continued..." "Lashana is absolutely brilliant and Phoebe's script is as sharp and funny as you would expect. This Bond pays tribute to some of the earlier films with a lot of humour," the source added..." S/N..Bond Girl term is now strictly forbidden. It's Bond Women now. More: https://vt.co/entertainment/celebri...&utm_medium=junglecreations&utm_campaign=post
In this oversensitive climate, we live in this is obviously going to be a thing that riles up the internet mobs, even though it is obviously going to be a temporary thing. James Bond will most likely regain his 007 moniker by the end of the movie.
I think she will eventually take over the Bond character if audiences are receptive to her role as new Agent 007 after James Bond retired. Her name is Noni.
James Bond is an iconic character, he is like Batman or Robin Hood there is no way they are going to permanently replace him. The film business is like any other industry, it is all about profit, the simple truth is a Black Woman as the lead of a "Bond film" would be a humongous box office gamble (one that would have little chance of paying off) so I cannot see a scenario where a studio would do that.
I'm actually fine with the strategy of establishing a new PoC or female character in a franchise that they can push as opposed to lazily just race-bending or gender-bending a character. It's no different than Miles Morales in the Spider-Man universe or this new "Daria" spin-off series "Jodie" that MTV is doing. So I can live with this as opposed to live-action "The Little Mermaid" news from the last couple weeks.
Fuck that. I want a black, male James Bond, Batman and Superman. Why should we have to settle for replacement hero? I want to see black men as A list heroes in established genre universes. Absolutely zero reason why we shouldn't or couldn't play these characters.
