The new Olivia Wilde directed film "Booksmart" has one of the main characters pining over a black man. Also MAJOR SPOILER
Eventually it's revealed that her black crush is with another woman who is a blonde white girl which devastates both main characters.

Well the trailers made no mention of that, and made it seem like they were both into girls.

But Olivia Wilde has been IR Friendly in her career as an actress so it probably carried over as an Director.

Also the feminist hypocrisy seems more hilarious than the plot and one-liners because the raunchy and sexual shit they complain about with guys they seem to be celebrating two women doing it. That Panda part was NASTY! lol.

lol I wouldn't call Olivia Wilde a ravenous feminist. The movie actually kinda pokes fun at the girls for being a bit too feminist, that's kind of the point. They're living in a bubble and when it comes down to it them living in that bubble is causing them to miss out on life. One of them is gay the other is not.

To me it looked like one was gay and the other just pretended to be gay to mess with her parents. Maybe I missed it?

I wasn't referencing Olivia I was talking about all of the feminist of hollywood raving over and celebrating this film. I thought this was some family friendly strong female film the way they were talking, until I seen those trailers and the R rating. lol.

On par with films like "Superbad" and "License to Drive" it's one of those films that anyone under the age of 23 is going to watch over and over again. Instant cult classic imo some very funny parts and nice subversion in places.

I actually got a chance to watch it. I enjoyed it and agree with your assessment. I especially enjoyed the subversions. Refreshing.

Famke is even harder to recognize after seeing her in BAYOU CAVIAR when you watch her as the lead homicide detective in WHEN THEY SEE US on Netflix . . . it is the most gripping miniseries of the year in my opinion and I was dumbfounded by how those kids were neglected by their parents some of whom enabled the LEOs to exploit and abuse them by not seeking legal counsel ASAP . . . but also damn is that REALLY famke janssen because DAMN!!!

I love the story and complexities being addressed here. So many familiar situations and conversations. But looks like one of those family friendly love stories with the country music playing in the background. lol.

The lead actress Rose Reid is also credited in co-writing this. Nice trailer.

Yeesshh....This movie is only rated "PG". Is this supposed to be a kids/family movie?

Don't it speak volumes that some screenwriter thought this kind of movie was just what American audiences would identify and embrace in 2019?? It could have been the CBS Sunday night movie in 1991 right?

Uhhhhh.....NO!! Lol! I think they mean family film as in those wholesome type adults and young adults that don't really watch the super vulgar or want a break from it. At times I be wanting a break from it. So I'll check it out.

I think we were watching two different trailers. That's not what I got out of it at all. lol.

But "PG-13" pretty much covers that. The only movies you typically see rated as "PG" are movies targeted to kids & families.
