Part of me wants to live in a world where Barack Obama had five kids by three different women and paid off the porn star that he cheated with while his wife was home pregnant. The far-right wingers that have taken over the GOP would have shit themselves every day of his presidency.

 

I remembered this when it first aired. It really is sad how true this is. And I would have LOVED it if Obama claimed that Bush had wiretapped his campaign (without evidence) or tried to interfere with investigations against him. Or if Obama played nearly as much golf as Trump has. Or if Obama openly attacked right wing media organizations the way that Trump does on a daily basis.

And I can see without unblocking that Bliss is up to her same old game of deflection and false equivalences. The more things change...

Capitalism creates artificial scarcity that incentivizes exploitive mechanisms like slavery to produce goods that people want not really need.
Honestly capitalism as a stand alone concept isn't bad but when we ignore human rights and personhood in favor of profit that's when it doesn't really serve us.

Capitalism may not have invented slavery but it perfected it. The very essence of slavery boils down to economics. A slave workforce was a hell of a lot cheaper and faster than relying on free people, so just like any good capitalist, slave owners did what was best for their bottom line.

 

Free labor works in any kind of economic structure. Having zero labor costs always works better for the employer/owner. It didn't take an Oxford educated economist to figure that out. There was nothing to perfect. What's more perfect in respect to the owner than free labor?
