Seeing how tribal this shit is getting, I'm not supporting anybody until we are much further down the line. I'm just naive enough to hope that we can avoid the DNC's tendency to crown a candidate too early. After all one of the factors in Hillary's loss was pissed off progressives who suspected (and were right about) the DNC's favoritism. Whether people think progressives are secret Republicans or whatever it doesn't matter because they are here now and they have a strong voice in the party. So any attempts at not playing fair (like in 2016) will only give us another term under Trump.
I do agree that there should be no favoritism within the party, only votes. It's just amazing how far the bar has been moved. I never liked Hilary, but I like her so much more than Bernie bots. I'm not even taking Kamala seriously and Booker doesn't seem like he has a good chance. I do hope Warren wins. I will vote 3rd party. Thus keeping my civic duty. We are destined to destroy this planet anyway. As long as I don't have to come back in an afterlife, it's ok with me. I'm over it. Neanderthals and Devonians died out. We're not much more special than them. Live life, elevate your consciousness just incase it's eternal, therefore it won't manifest itself in a sub par species again. That's my philosophy. lol
I don't really agree that there shouldn't be favoritism -- before you just ignore me, hear me out. At your job, do you think it's important that those getting promoted are well liked by the people they immediately work with? As in, you wouldn't want someone becoming a boss if the other 6 people they work with on the daily all think he's a jerk, right? Well, that's basically what "favoritism" is within a political party, to me. If other Democrats seem to "favor" a particular politician, it often means that the person is easy to work with -- willing to compromise, willing to listen to other people's opinions, positive outlook, and so forth. One of the primary reasons that Bernie had such trouble gaining support within the establishment is that many established politicians thought he was kind of a jerk. Maybe they're wrong! I'm not saying they are definitely right. But I suppose I think it's good that politicians signal to us like that. It's their way of saying "in my opinion, this person isn't great to work with, and I'm not sure I would want him as a boss."
I also don't mean to suggest that such favoritism should totally drive my vote (or your vote). It's just a signal, and I take lots of signals in to account when I decide who to vote for. But yeah, as an example, if lots of Democrats were signaling via press interviews / endorsements that they found Elizabeth Warren stubborn and hard to work with as a colleague, I'd absolutely take that in to account, and I'd be less likely to vote for Elizabeth Warren (who happens to my favorite pick fyi). If that's what it means for the Democratic party to show "favoritism" well then so be it.
Interesting perspective. I don't agree, but I think you have logic here. Your opinion is not based on the usual emotional biased backwash that comes from men and women alike on this subject, for that thank you! I just think your logic will work in favor of the people only on a part-time basis. At other times it could easily backfire.
Democratic primary voters favored the only actual Democrat in the race in 2016. If Bernie was the man whose time had come, he wouldn't have lost by 3 million votes. Obama swamped Hillary in 2008 and she was the favorite. I can't wait until Bernie runs again in 2020 (if he's still alive). Who will you blame when he gets his ass handed to him AGAIN?
Yes they did. US politics is zero sum. They siphoned votes from Democrats. Period. Moscow Jill's votes alone would have put HRC over the top. Take a civics class and get back to me
Obama couldn't have gotten around the block with a white wife, let alone to the White House. I'm with you 100% on that
Too early to tell if I will be voting at all. It will be the first time since 2004 that I missed an election. The only hopeful I honestly like is Beto, and he hasn't announced yet. Kamala would be a good Attorney General since she locks people up, but I wouldn't vote for her for POTUS. I don't like Warren at all
I hope either Warren or St.Bernie pick AOC as VP. I want to see the far lefties hit that brick wall as hard as they can. Lol.
Actualy no. Votes only belong to the people who cast them. If those people chose to vote for a third party candidate or shove their ballots in a garbage can, that is their right. Political parties behaving as if they are owed votes is why their constituents get taken for granted.
Didn't Boba say Texas and Georgia are supposedly turning blue? And he implied a far lefty could take them? I can't wait for this reality check. They are gonna win Cali, New York, Jersey, maybe 2 or 3 more NE states that barely have any points to give, and maybe Maryland. From there it's going to be a free falling flop. Lol
I'm looking at Castro as my frontrunner for now. It's early I know but he provides a significant contrast to Trump and he has the cultural literacy that seems sincere to me. First one out the gate when Gov. Northam's yearbook scandal broke to demand his resignation too: It wasn't 1954 when he did this and he wasn't in grade school either . . . this was grad school in 1984 Castro astutely pointed out!! What kind of parties was the governor attending back then where he couldn't determine if he was wearing a Klansman uniform or Blackface?
Beto already lost in TX to a flawed, deeply disliked opponent Stacey Abrams would've probably won in GA if not for voter shenanigans. I didn't believe it until I saw the vote count. She didn't lose by much. Which means she did OK in rural Georgia. Surprising The white South represents that 30% of Murca who will vote for any shitty candidate or policy as long as they're white. George W. Bush left office at a 30% approval, that's where that 30% came from. Trump is at 44% now with those same people only 2 years into his first term
St. Bernie won't make it to Iowa, he's irrelevant. They've got a cute, TV-friendly Latina to parrot his talking points now. Plus the Berner vote will now be split three ways between St. Bernie, Warren, and Tulsi. Can't wait for Bernie-Bots to start tearing each other apart. Get the popcorn
Its historically low for a President with this good of economy. If he's still around in 2020 when this whole thing starts to melt down you'll see historic lows. Can't give away billions in tax cuts while deregulating financial institutions. Great depression 2.0 hope you got yourself a gun and a stock pile of food. Shit is gonna get wild out there
It's worth it to stick with you throughout your "progressive" bs because every so often a true pearl of wisdom issues forth lol. No lies detected on this one
