The permanently offended masses are now up in arms about a 7-year-old comedy show.

Twitter seems to have lost their minds because someone discovered this show were Louis C.K. Ricky Gervais, Chris Rock, and Jerry Seinfeld discuss comedy and The N-Word comes up. Everyone says it (except Jerry Seinfeld) and internet people are angry.

I'm not wild about a couple of white guys slinging the word around, but it was a comedy show about comedians discussing their acts, it wasn't meant to be offensive and it was 7 YEARS AGO!

I actually think there's something you this. Don't get me wrong, I'm not down with the overblown outrage. But I think this is a legit issue that deserves some thought. This is one of those tiny, hidden forms of racial prejudice that affect people, and are sometimes perpetrated by people, without their even realizing.

SJW Twitter is fake outraged about The Weeknd's lyrics in his new single with Gesaffelstein, "Lost in the Fire": https://uproxx.com/hiphop/the-weeknd-lost-in-the-fire-lyrics-homophobia/

When I saw the headline about them coming for Abel, I assumed that online SJWs had finally looked up the lyrics for the degenerate, date-rapey drug addict lifestyle music he used to do. Come to find out they're just mad about him singing smashing a lesbian chick straight in this new single. They shouldn't even be listening to The Weeknd if they're offended by those lyrics.

Remember the music industry is so-called "next" especially with Terry Crews putting out on his twitter that it's time to hold men in music accountable.

I would sit here and say that by the time they get what they "want" damn near everything is going to be pg and g rated but their hypocrites so hopefully the only thing that will happen is people start calling out the hypocrisy! And no better way to start than with the Elvis special coming up that numerous of artist that condemned R. Kelly for being with an underage girl are a part of.

Then hopefully people will start calling out these celebs that have gotten away with racism like when The Oscars let Jimmy Kimmel host after he not only did blackface but didn't even apologize and the media swept THAT under the rug.

I'm sure by now everybody has heard the hubbub about this Gillette commercial which seems to suggest "toxic masculinity is a major issue with men today.

A whole lot of online people are pissed off about it (also quite a few are praising it.) I don't endorse the ad but I'm not enraged by it either. I think both sides are either missing the point or are obfuscating the truth.

First of all "Toxic Masculinity" isn't a thing. In reality, there are two types of people, assholes and nice people, sometimes the assholes have penises and sometimes they have vaginas, and sometimes nice people shave their faces and sometimes they shave their legs. Yes it is true there are a lot of men who are abusive and misogynistic, but again it's because they are assholes who happen to be men and not because of masculinity.

I know one of the defenses of this commercial is that they aren't talking about all men, that they are only targeting the small percentage of bad guys. Unfortunately, that rationale doesn't really hold water because billion-dollar businesses don't roll out national ad-campaigns to target small minorities of people. The fact that they made a commercial about this is an indication that they believe toxicity is a major issue with men. The truth, of course, is that toxic behavior is not indicative of men, it is, in reality, indicative of our species. We shouldn't ignore the destructive nature of toxic people so I applaud Gillette for getting into the conversation, unfortunately by making it a gender issue they have missed an opportunity to really explore the nature of toxic behavior and have let half of society off the hook.

My only problem with the ad happens at 1:02. Really, stopping a woman on the street and trying to shoot your shot is an issue, now? Who am I kidding? Ofcooooooooouuuurse it is.

It's this "Men should hold other men accountable" BS, but when you turn that around on white people when it comes to racism in this country you hear crickets.

My problem with it is what you said, but also the hypocrisy and catering they are doing. I don't trust corporations especially those that are made up of rich old white men to suddenly have a moral compass. They are making money off of what's trendy. I bet the selling pitch to this was strictly based on what will help views and sales. Corporations are cold like that.

Also If women are suppose to be so much stronger than men then why don't take responsibility for raising these toxic men. I'm getting so tired of hearing about women empowerment and strong women only for them to turn around and promote women as victims at the same time. If their gender makes them so much stronger than men then that is impossible for much superior beings to be victims!

I sometimes don't understand your disdain for women whenever masculinity is the topic. The dichotomy you present above is wrought with complexity. Being a woman (much like being Black) and seeking and speaking empowerment, while also experiencing some real forms of victimization, is not mutually exclusive.

(BTW, l'm not in favor of the Gillette ad)

It's not a disdain. It's the hypocrisy, confusion and god complex that exist within it that I'm observing. If they were doing that I would understand, but they are presenting themselves as genetically stronger than men. If that's the case then the weak(men) can not strip of your power. Only those that are also powerful can. You can speak to your power as a woman and express it without it being at the expense of men. This is something a lot of humans love to do when it comes to racial or gender pride. They feel like they must highlight inferiority of others in order to express their power and pride.

I know survivors and victims can make it and seek to become powerful/stronger from it. That is an ability we have. That wasn't what I was speaking of... I was speaking about the god complex that people have that is the total opposite of feeling empowered. When you highlight that the reason why victims are able to seek and speak of empowerment is because of what gender or race they are that's when you lose me.

Yeah I went back and read what I wrote and saw how it came off I hope other women on this board didn't misinterpret that. I meant to respond earlier, but got caught up with personal things.

It's funny that these SJW's cherry pick what they want to see, or be outraged at. From my understanding Abel is friends with Lena Waithe (who is Lesbian), musically mentored Halsey (Bisexual), and had a merchandise collaboration with fashion designer Alexander Wang (Gay), but SJW's love to masturbate to their own Outrage Porn......So please don't assume their...intelligence, and make sure to check your fact-checking privilege at the door, and you don't want no smoke, beef, or smoked brisket from the LGBTWTFBBQ!!!

Dame Julie Andrews’s performance as Mary Poppins is racist,
says a US academic who accuses her of ‘blacking up’ when her face is covered with soot as she dances with chimney sweeps.

Writing in The New York Times...Professor Daniel Pollack-Pelzner attacks the scene.

He writes: ‘Her face gets covered with soot, but instead of wiping it off, she gamely powders her nose and cheeks and gets even blacker.’

The literature professor acknowledges that Poppins’s face is covered with soot because she has gone up the chimney with her charges, Michael and Jane Banks.

    (What an utter twit)

I'm kind of shocked. This is nothing that Howard Stern and Jimmy Kimmmel didn't/doesn't do, or those 5 prankster guys on cable ( forget the name)
He has hundreds of thousands of fans.
    (He should have gotten releases.)

Baltimore social media star , Marquel Anthony Carter, 20, aka 'Plainpotatoess' is charged with 21 counts of harassment and trespassing over his 'prank' videos which use 'hateful speech and intimidation'

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...-21-counts-harassment-trespassing-pranks.html
    • City Council member Eric T. Costello championed the investigation into his acts after receiving complaints
    • [IMG]
    • Costello said Carter filmed himself 'continually harassing people using ethnic, racist, sexist, homophobic, and other forms of hateful speech and intimidation'
    • Carter said he 'didn't mean to hurt or traumatize anyone,' that he was playing a character, thought people were being overly sensitive and couldn't take a joke
    • Baltimore Police Department is asking anyone who has been victimized by Carter to email John.Gregorio@BaltimorePolice.org or call 410-396-2499
Isn't this somewhat of an extreme reaction? Is this the quintessential 'slippery slope'? Isn't there really bad actual crimes in Baltimore.

Anyway, here is an example the article used.
Seems to me the guy is in on it... for hits. But l haven't seen others so lDK the extent...
