It is a good point. I didn't overlook it. But then, it's not unusual in my life. While it may be a great thing the white parents hired a black man to watch their children, one does not cancel out the other. I think it's more than people having an issue with a black person with white kids. It's an issue of a MAN with children of a different race. No one thinks a thing of a white woman with black kids or a black woman with white kids. I actually was walking into a store with my black child and passed a black woman with a white child right after I heard about this story. My ex-husband (white) was with my (black) daughter when she was little and a woman rolled up on him and directly asked my daughter if she was "OK" and did she need help. She was only about 4 at the time and this "well-meaning citizen" scared the shit out of my daughter. He said she did circle around several times. She didn't follow him or call the cops (as far as we know). I am sure most are going to have a bigger problem with a black man with white children than a white man with black children. I know this from experience. We want men to be involved with children yet people instantly think something is suspect when they are involved. Somehow, sexism is tolerated if it's towards a man.
