Lol! Will he also equip them with ray guns and light sabers. Maybe he'll commandeer all of the Starfleet vessels from the United Federation of Planets. Wait... Maybe this was another of his jokes. Hopefully we'll find out soon before the Starfleet Academy gets flooded with applications.

Are you referring to President Trump's announcement of creating a Space Force?
If l had even an once of capability, I'd sign up. Who wouldn't? What an amazing branch it would be.

I get it, though, Dude. As a controlled Democrat, you want to mock any attempts at expanding the branches of our Military to dare include Space, et al, so your reaction makes sense.
If you don't want progress, then just step aside, don't ever sign up in any capacity, don't benefit from it, nor be a part of it in any way. Simple, really.

For others like me who think outside the box, who understand that we will increasingly explore, and eventually inhabit other planets, its incredibly exciting to know, Congress willing, that the U.S will be a step ahead and prepared with a Space Force equipped with men and women knowledgeable in sciences, planets, galaxies, space areonautics, aiding and assisting astronauts, and even creating their own. Love it!

Space Force WTF? The United States doesn't even currently have a reusable space-faring vehicle, and we are going to have an entire military branch in space? The Air Force already oversees the space technology we do have, so why do we need a completely separate military branch?

    Space Treaty of 1967

    Article I
The exploration and use of outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, shall be carried out for the benefit and in the interests of all countries, irrespective of their degree of economic or scientific development, and shall be the province of all mankind.

There shall be freedom of scientific investigation in outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, and States shall facilitate and encourage international co-operation in such investigation.

    Article II
Outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, is not subject to national appropriation by claim of sovereignty, by means of use or occupation, or by any other means.

    Article IV
States Parties to the Treaty undertake not to place in orbit around the Earth any objects carrying nuclear weapons or any other kinds of weapons of mass destruction, install such weapons on celestial bodies, or station such weapons in outer space in any other manner.

The Moon and other celestial bodies shall be used by all States Parties to the Treaty exclusively for peaceful purposes. The establishment of military bases, installations and fortifications, the testing of any type of weapons and the conduct of military maneuvers on celestial bodies shall be forbidden. The use of military personnel for scientific research or for any other peaceful purposes shall not be prohibited. Because it's dealing with outer galazies amd planets, not only earth airspace. We need a specialized force, along with specialized forces like we have done with green berets, Marines and Army Rangers. It's fantastic that we are even pursuing this.

    From your very post:
The use of military personnel for scientific research or for any other peaceful purposes shall not be prohibited.

Yeah, that must be it. Surely, I must be against exploration and related advancement despite me being an IT professional who's often called upon for new projects and such. Yup! Totally makes sense, and you managed to blow my cover. How bigly!!!

Then why are you mocking it?
Let's see. If it was Obama directing it, you'd be fascinated and encouraging...
Since it's Trump, you're slapping your knee, hooting. Ok.

    From the speech

"But our destiny, beyond the Earth, is not only a matter of national identity, but a matter of national security. "

"When it comes to defending America, it is not enough to merely have an American presence in space. We must have American dominance in space."

Talks of national security and dominanc of an arena are hardly harbingers of peace.

"Our nation of pioneers still yearns to conquer the unknown, because we are Americans and the future belongs totally to us. Once more, we will launch intrepid souls blazing through the sky and soaring into the heavens. Once more, we will summon the American spirit to tame the next great American frontier."

    Article I
The exploration and use of outer space, including the moon and other celestial bodies, shall be carried out for the benefit and in the interests of all countries, irrespective of their degree of economic or scientific development, and shall be the province of all mankind.

    From your post
Last I checked special forces like those you mentioned were instruments of war first not scientists and their missions are very rarely peaceful. There are scientists in the Marines more than likely though I will concede that.

I legitimately think Trump saw an Earth invasion movie one night and decided we need spaceships to defend us against little green immigrants.

Those branches are also Instruments to keep the peace, too.

    Why should America dominate?
Why not. We have checks and balances in our Govt, not dictatorships, so we're perfectly slated to branch out. Countries next with the most military satelites - ie: Communist China & Russia, want to topple the U.S, so we must dominate in order to preserve this magnificent country.

Don't worry though, this needs Congressional approval. It will have oversight.
    But its time has come.

    As our POTUS stated:
“For too many years, our dreams of exploration and discovery were really squandered by politics and bureaucracy. And we knocked that out.
My administration is reclaiming America's heritage as the world's greatest space-faring nation.”

    Furthermore...

“The president’s National Strategy for Space calls for American leadership, preeminence, and freedom of action in space, and he sees a separate service focused on space as a critical piece of that end state.
The National Space Council and other White House offices will work closely with the Department of Defense on successful implementation of the president’s direction.”

Your under-estimation of this man is what lost you the election. He may play the fool but he's no fool. Stay focused on his mannerisms, his hair, his fake tan...keep on personally mocking him and his wife. Please.

Next thing you know the dipshit's gonna talk about building a wall around the planet and making Mars pay for it.

You keep getting me confused with other people, I've never said a thing about the man's wife. I've also never under-estimated his ability to do what is best for himself.

Trump personally mocks people on a regular basis. Should I be held to a higher standard than the "leader of the free world"?

I know you are loyal to him, but let me ask you this, is there anything Trump has said or done over the past two years that you disagree with?

The Republicans aren't paying for no damn 'Space Force' with no clearly defined mission.

To me this sounds like Trump and his benefactors want to establish a military version of NASA, have private sector military contractors engineer it, and soak the American taxpayers for trillions of dollars to fund it.

Nobody is underestimating Trump, his win was a fluke and didn't express the genuine will of the people.
He still lost by 3 million votes to HRC despite a lowered election turnout.

    That won't happen again.

He's redirecting it into a branch of its own. He said it as much.

You said you live in DC. so I understand your lack of understanding of the average, fed-up American.

All you have done since you lost, is fight to destroy his successes, mocked his drives for peace with NK, mocked his call for fairness in trade, called tens of millions of Americans who support his desire to make this country even better, Nazis and racists and deplorable and dumb and women being led by the nose by their husbands, and every arrogant insult you can imagine. Shame on you.

Your smugness lost you the election. Your 3 million popular vote was a farce. I guess using your logic, the Russians colluded with Hillary with that one, huh.
