As another discussion, I feel like something needs to be pointed out about how racism works in the modern world. There are really three "tiers" of racism that can be broken down like this:

    1) People who know they are racist and who will openly say so. Think of KKK members as examples here. These people used to be the majority of racists but today I think they are the distinct minority because it is so politically toxic to openly admit to racism.

    2) People who know they are racist but who won't say it out loud. These are people who think much like KKK members, but are savvy enough to realize that they could be ostracized from social or political circles for openly admitting it.

    3) People who do not even realize they are racist even inside their own heads. This group is, I believe, by far the largest group of modern racists, and it's really troublesome because it's so difficult to solve. Because humans are by definition not in control of their subconscious thoughts, it's possible for a person to avoid conscious racist behavior while engaging in subconscious racist behaviors they aren't aware of. As an example here, imagine a manager at a store that hires a suspiciously low number of black employees. Could it just be random chance? Sure, it could, and maybe the manager believes that's true, inside his own head. But it's also possible the manager subconsciously knocks black applicants down a peg or two without realizing it, so that black applicants have to be extra-super good to make the cut.

I think it's important to identify these different types of racism so you can figure out how to combat them. Fighting 1) is pretty straightforward, fighting 2) is harder but still doable, but fighting 3)? Goodness, that's tough.

Not sure where you get this impression @bolded. The antifa group said they created the name themselves. Not quite sure of the discussion point here, lol.

*Btw, that link was an interesting read.

Im sure I would not agree with these "antifa" people on everything, but if they are fighting white supremacists, they are doing the lords work and I say good for them!

The point of discussion is that it's one thing if I refer to myself as "the righteous soldier of justice" or some such, because everyone refers to themselves in flattering terms. But it's quite another if my opponents refer to me that way, too. Or even coin the term themselves.

The term "social justice warrior" in its modern usage came out of Gamergate people who used it to deride those who supported feminism in gaming. You can read about the history of the term here.

I would too, but they're fighting everyone. They purposely poured urine and feces all over Katie Couric and Nat Geo camermen, they punched The Hill female reporter in the face, they physically assaulted jewish men, a BLM activist was shot dead in the head (didnt make the news like Heather did, but l saw the video of his death).
How are they not doing the work of White Supremists and neo nazis? That's why they sometimes get labelled as 'similar'.
What is their end game? Do you know?

Do you have a link to them shooting and killing a BLM advocate?

Nah, Establishment DNC is radical center or straight center AT BEST economic/fiscal issues. Bernie Sanders who you think is some far left-wing politician actually falls under Center-Left.

True indeed. The so called "alt-right" like Spencer and his ilk are joined with the KKK,Nazi, and other hate groups. I heard on Reveal from NPR yesterday.

This is true. Democratic Socialism falls under Center-Left politics.

Interesting to read its 'derogatory' roots. It's actually on par with feme-nazi that is often used to describe women who wanted equal rights.

I guess like all labels, it took on adaptations. Groups borrowed the label to represent them online, then adapted it to street activism, and now it's become a catch-call for overbearing PC culture.

Antifa no question began as anti-fascism, but its in danger of losing its appeal because the tactics employed by many of them are on par with fascists and Brown Shirts. Behavior trumps words.

MLK nailed the methodology, he understood the psychological concept of winnimg hearts and minds. If Antifa stuck to the script laid out by the master of inclusivity, heck even ignored those loser racists who continued to dwindle every decade and are completely powerless, the country might be on a different trajectory.

Cornell West is a prominent member of the DSA & styles himself as a radical democrat socialist. I don't think he counts.

Guys I just want to say I think a lot of people in here are way too harsh on Bliss. I disagree with her on a lot of things (pretty clearly!) but one of the things that people seem to have lost in the modern world is being able to disagree with someone but still respecting them. Besides, it makes it feel even better if/when you finally reach agreement on something!

I looked for you. I know l saw it either on another blog or FB. I know l would have saved it somewhere because of what l witnessed. Can't find it on google, but not surprised anymore - Google and FB are whitewashing many things so its not coming up.

l know l SAW IT. l watched blood pour out on the concrete, his friend was trying to stem the blood and move his dreads. Shots had been fired people were running, dispersing and you see him drop.

Of course now, the one news site you can't shut down...l believe had a blurb on it.

One shot during rally against Charlotte police shooting
    22 SEPTEMBER 2016

Officials say a person is on life support after being shot during violent protests against police killing of black man.

A person is on life support after being shot in Charlotte, North Carolina, during the second night of protests against the killing of a black man by police.

The city's police chief had earlier said on Wednesday that he had died of his wound, but officials later said he was in a critical condition.

..Al Jazeera's Alan Fisher, reporting from Charlotte, said the wounded man was shot in the shoulder.

"Initially it was said he was shot in the head but we saw the injury, it was very much in the shoulder," he said...

Charlotte Police Chief Kerr Putney did not identify the person shot or the origin of the gunfire but city officials said on Twitter that the shot was fired by one civilian at another, not by police.

A police officer was also being treated for injuries suffered during the protests, officials added.

@andreboba @The Dark King @RicardoCooper What do y'all think about California Senator Kamala Harris being the supposed frontrunner democratic party presidential candidate in 2020?

[IMG] I just LOVE that folks don't have any problem with her being married to a WM. Not just any WM, a White Banker at that too.

^She's the new biracial hope that the DNC are trotting out. But she's just another establishment candidate. The DNC will never learn will, they?

    Thanks Bod..
I'm ok..l have always fought for the truly oppressed, the underdog, the true victims, the elderly and kids and animals. Never wavered. I know my heart. I'm the most loving person and if you are too, you will feel it unwavering from me.

Of course like everyone, Events can create fluidity in responses but my core and heart is no one sex, peaceful religion or race is better than another, we are all human and share this planet. (And with sentient animals!)

I'm of the ilk if l'm pushed, l will push back. I hate bullies. I hate gang-ups. l hate broadstrokes, I don't care the cause. Speak to me civily and you will get that back.

You seem very kind and fair. Thanks again.
