Highest youth unemployment rate in the country. It's not always black and white. You know how many homeless white kids I see in NY. Young 20 something kids you'd think could easily get a job at a store or something but they're on the damn streets in January. How do any of you know she plain didn't try?

How do you know she did try? White privilege gives her the benefit of the doubt because you know damn well, any minority in her same shoes wouldn't be viewed the same. Why should I view her any differently than the country views our minority youth? I won't feed into her privilege, not when she has every advantage at her disposal.

Hahaha...remember when TDK told you white chicks don't sacrifice a thing. Well he just donated to her thing. :p:D:p:D

Oh give me a break! My point was that many of us never had anyone funding phones, cars, or education paid for us. Why should anyone expect that? IF she wants to go to college she has options. You do what it takes to get what you want in life. I hardly think an 18 year old needing to do what it takes equates to a never ending grind.

She has every last of advantages to get a job in this country.
    Young/youth
    Smarts
    Educated
    Slim
    Healthy
    Pretty
    Blonde
    White
    Female

Her drawbacks are she is spoiled and lazy and has a millennial mentality.
I'm betting companies will overlook her drawbacks in falling over themselves to hire her.
And she knows it. 'Cant' doesn't really exist for young girls like her. Others people will always find a way to "can" for girls like her and she already knows this. So she will take. ( the easy road)

Funny I happen to know someone in that area who's been very busy working on opening several new food stores and they are having a tough time finding people to fill the jobs. There are options where she is.

I'm really confused by TDK on this one. I have to wonder if you would have felt the same way if it was a white 18 year old boy in the same situation.

I don't agree with the parents at all. First I think they are responsible for her expectations in life. They put her in that position. Of course, I don't agree with their whole thing about the boyfriend.

However, I will say this....part of living at home (and whatever comes with it) is following the parameters of the house, whether anyone agrees with it or not. I am not one who thinks because one is 18 they are an "adult", but our country does. Therefore, you either choose to live by the rules or not and if not then you need to go figure it out somewhere else. Personally, I think she will end up better off to pull it together and get on her own. But to expect others to give hand outs to do that is ridiculous. There are plenty of options that will help her to gain ground in life. Those options each come with parameters as well and it's up to her if she wants to accept them or not.

Sure would. It's crystal clear where this country is going and this continued idea that unnecessary struggle breeds character or asking for help means spoiled is limited thinking. It's why as a society we allow poverty and excuse hopelessness. Someone asking for money to go to school or to help them survive doesn't scream laziness or spoiled to me. It's a cry for help.

The point you are missing is there is lots of help out there already.

How do you think things should be? Do you think people should be given a home, etc? Or do they need to work for things in life?

Because I'd give a minority youth the same exact help. I guess I remember being 18 and I know for a fact without support I would have ended up dead or in jail for doing something stupid. I don't see white girl and think she has it all who cares about her problem. And fyi this is exactly the same liberal hog wash that cost progressives the election. This assumption that white people just have it easier and yes in a lot of respects some do but I don't dictate what people should and shouldn't do because it would be hypocritical. Every time a conservative asshole tells me about how minorities should just pull themselves up and stop bitching about the past I feel the same way. I take the circumstances given and I go from there. I don't make all these wild judgments based on how someone looks because that would be.....

She should take the money and donate it to the IR couple whose apartment was utterly destroyed by their vindictive bigoted ex-tenants.
    Hahaha..*tears*
Phone car and college fund. Typical to you it's "survival" and a "cry for help" to ask others to pay for those things.
God help us if you see her lacking those extra things as a life or death scenario. She is spoiled and can't deal. Like you.

Interesting question. Do you believe we should work for water? Work for an elementary education? How about work for healthcare?
I think there are basic needs that should be met. We have been so conditioned to believe you should earn a living and it's usually coming from people who didn't have to work that hard. If we all believed in hard work so much why do people at the top endorse inheritances so much? The idea what you've earned or someone else did should be passed on.
I think whatever your ideology we can agree life shouldn't be this. A life of toil and general unfulfillment because so many needs aren't being met. There's enough

Again why are you here? It's obvious to everyone who and what you are. You voted against the families and safety of most of the people on here. You railed for months how disgusting the other side was so much so you supported a racist demagogue who surrounds himself with vile people who want to persecute and oppress most of us. You made your choice so again why are you here?

Wa wa wa. "You voted for blah blah blah.." God, can you be anymore witless?
I fear for your fragileness in this hard world.
Best you stay in your parents suburban basement, with your non-white girlfriend, and play with your monopoly coin-money and robot sex dolls.
    The adults have this.
