But would you have put all this though, justification and 'intelligence' into this if it were a man?

    His ego? WTF?

I can get and I got the excessive point...But ego? No. That's violating someone

Of course, there are an abundance of cases nationwide where both parties were men and self defense failed as a defense due to excessive or unreasonable use of retaliatory force.

Not to mention, speaking from experience, when you are a high profile athlete at a major university, you live in a fishbowl where you have extra scrutiny on your every move when you are out in public, all the more reason to remain calm and avoid any potential legal situations.

Could you cite your source? I read his statement where Mixon himself said it was the guy who insulted him and hebinsulted him back. I might have seen a short version of it. I know the interview was taped but it's an hr long l recall.

What's funny is , if that's the case then why didn't the guys who was with her intervene to keep it from escalating?

This is how I know you've never been in a fight or always had someone protect you because it's not this clean rational thing where you can take each moment apart. If one person starts calling me nigger while spitting and hitting me I'm going to be hyper aware especially if she's with another person. You're under the impression that someone smaller can't injure me especially when they have back up

Please show me, if you can, I will concede here and move on.

The game is to get you in trouble by calling you a nigger. From what I see, she was with a bm . again why didn't her "friends" intervene

Go here http://law.justia.com/cases/ and do a search for "excessive force and self defense" and you will get a bunch of prior legal cases on this issue.

A quick google search will bring up multiple cases, some involving individuals, some involving bouncers and patrons at bars (a lot of case law on this per below, so much so that certain firms specialize in this section of law), off duty police officers using excessive force, ect.

Just a guess, but her male friends looked pretty small and wimpy, and usually most sober men know that its not a good idea to confront larger stronger men when they dont have to.

Just to add some levity, Bill Burr did a funny bit about this topic, start at 4:20

I've never been in a serious fight. I'm a girl, and not a thug lol, so it's never been an issue. But the men in my life have been in those situations and have walked away. That's all I'm saying. It's not impossible to maintain a certain level of maturity unless you just lack all self control.

Naw sometimes it's not about self control all the time.

Not to mention that your husband is a big man and often taller/bigger guys have experienced people coming at them pushing the limits simply because of their size. There's a lot of idiots out there who are trying to puff up.

If it's not about self control, what is it about? This isn't high school we're talking about, where if someone sees you take a hit and walk away, they'll feel like they can do the same to you. We're adults. We should be able to exercise maturity and self control.

My ex husband is a very big guy as well and both guys grew out of the fighting nonsense early in life lol. Especially as adults, they're smart enough to recognize that their size and skin color puts them at an automatic disadvantage in any sort of disturbance call, and they're not willing to lose their freedom just to get a punch in on some punk. Neither of them are big fans of police so the last thing they want is to interact with them lol.

It's a feeling of violation and taking back what they took and you can say ego and control.
