Jamaican Sex Tourism the Subject of Steamy Documentary
    By Kam Williams
    (March 1, 2007)
When white women flock to Jamaica for a little fun in the sun, the R&R they're often looking for is not "Rest and Relaxation" but to "Rent a Rasta" according to director J. Michael Seyfert. His eye-opening expose' of the same name sheds light on a barely acknowledged form of sex tourism, namely, white women who visit the Caribbean Islands to get their groove back with the help of black locals.

This documentary claims that, each year, as many as 80,000 females from a variety of relatively-wealthy Western nations descend on Jamaica alone. The long-concealed phenomenon was also recently the subject of Heading South, a fictional account of similar goings-on in Haiti.

Most of those inclined to indulge their Island Fever with wanton abandon are apparently middle-aged and/or overweight spinsters. Ignored by white men, and afraid to date blacks openly due to the social taboo, they look for satisfaction at remote resorts amidst the anonymity offered by a virtual paradise.

These decadent dames safely lure their boy toys with money, electronic gadgets, designer clothes, baubles, or whatever material item it takes to get uncomplicated sexual favors in return along with the strict understanding that like in Las Vegas, "What happens in Jamaica, stays in Jamaica."

As one satisfied customer, a 45 year-old spinster from the Midwest explains her addiction to her hedonistic getaway, "A girl who no one looks at twice gets hit on all the time here. All these guys are paying her attention, telling her she's really beautiful, and they really want her. It is like a secret, a fantasy, and then you go home."

While this glimpse of the lucky ladies' rationale for their no-strings liaisons is certainly informative, the picture is actually far more interesting when chronicling the history of Jamaica, winding its way from the slave days through the rise of the Rastafari to the present. Framed from this perspective, we suddenly see a persistent pattern of utter subjugation and economic inequality, with islanders providing stud service only being the latest form of exploitation.

Perhaps most telling is the desperate summation of a suffering black woman seen begging for an end to the Jamaican people's neverending cycle of poverty. She wants, "the white world to come give us our deliverance, because it was them who take us out of our land and carry us here."

Viewed in this light, Rent a Rasta is a clarion call which establishes that sex tourism is not merely the harmless indulgence of horny white women gone wild, but a burgeoning trend which continues to wreak havoc on a Caribbean culture and family structure already in crisis.

Yep we also get these women over here. There's been programmes on Hedonism and the type of ladies that frequent these places looking for beach boys who they obviously just want one thing from.. and the boys.... they want passports! Well, if that suits both parties then sobeit but you spot the Yardies in Tesco walking round with their fat woman next to them... or should I say ten yards behind them!!

 Excuse me but I DID NOT MAKE THOSE STATEMENTS MY FRIEND! They are part of the review of the documentary of RENT a RASTA & are not my words at all!

As far as how the women look or don't look then I don't know but suffice it to say that alot of women their ages ARE NOT going to have the bodies of 20ish models...BUT PROBABLY WILL HAVE MORE MONEY :!:

Now on the subject of HEDO, don't get it TWISTED  because you get a very nice mix of HOTT white ladies from all over coming to the island to party with brothas either from the states or from there on the island :!: I have friends that have gone more than once & have shown me pics and the ones I've seen were very attractive and were doing their thing as well as having a damn good time with the bros that were there :!: :p

 Okay true on that LC but the way I see it as long as everyone is up front about what they want out of any kind of relationship be it romantic or just sexual, then it's up to the other person to then decide if it's for them or not.

I know that by now the Rastas know what time it is  with these women so they can deal or not deal.

I wonder the rasta men/boys fight over the ones who are attractive and beautiful? Sometimes if it is the not so attractive women it would be for a ticket out of the island. On that flick Heading South no question it is like that documentary but in oppressive Haiti in the Seventies.

Just because you have Dreadlocks does not mean you are a rasta.

Yes and I enjoyed it. The acting was quite good and the women were in complete control. I found it rather sad though. Very interesting movie overall!

Well to be honest I haven't seen to many hot guys going out after prostitutes when watching a documentary about that side of prostitution. Just a comment I have since the look of the women going to Jamaica for sex seems to be an issue here.
It's prostitution or sex tourism whatever you want to call it, it's sex for money. I am a bit surprised by the somewhat naive discussion around this entire subject. In my humble opinion it has nothing to do with what we are doing or relates to Interracial dating whatsoever. It's prostitution, very simple and it doesn't matter whether it's a white woman in Amsterdam working or a black man in Jamaica doing the same thing, not?

Cosmetic, weren't they working on a Stud-farm in Nevada? I think I've heard something about that a while ago not sure if it actually is still in the works or not. I think prostitution (provided of course the prostitute is of legal age and not forced by a pimp or the mafia to do what he/she does) is ok.

It depends if the women wanted to go to a ranch in Nevada to see those Multicultural studs.
