They didn't say straighten, they said restyle. There are all sorts of styles that can be done and keep it natural. No need to straighten. Plenty of girls/women have natural hair without it blocking vision or bumping into other people.

It's no different than having to put your hair up for certain jobs, etc.

It's part of the dress code. The parents want to put their child in that school then you have to do what the rules are.

oh and btw I'm a huge advocate for keeping hair natural. There are tons of options. If she wants to keep it "puffy" then she can still put it in a pony or something.

they couldve and to me shouldve pulled it back. I think when they went after the person being bullied then they were wrong for that.

They "mandated she restyle" her hair.

The straight thing was from the classmates and the school thought it would be in her best interest.

That's all part of an article and who knows how accurate any of it is.

It's an old ass article and it was smashed.

no it says "allegedly mandated that she restyle..."

it wasnt a rule from the start or at least it seems. they were trying to get her to straighten her hair.

there you go. being a christian school they shouldve appreciated the natural and gone after the bullies. why go after the victim?

They couldn't care less if her hair was straightened GL. They were on her because she wasn't following the rules of the school. Her hair was a distraction. She needed to take care of it or risk expulsion. If bet the school didn't give two fucks about how she took care of the puffiness, they just wanted her in compliance. Period.

Why does the girl have a different last name from the mom

    Where is the father

I bet if there was a father, this madness wouldn't have got nearly this far

Anything about hair and BW lose their damn minds

Yeah, I think the real issue was that the girl's hair was too 'big' and borderline a big afro, not whether or not it was natural.

If a little White girl grew her hair down to her butt at that school I'm sure she would have been in violation of the school's dress code too for it being a distraction.

This is nice feel-good story but it's not the real world.

In 8 years if she graduates from college sporting a foot high natural hair style for job interviews, some companies are going to deny her employment because she doesn't look corporate.

Sometimes parents make the wrong things issues worth fighting for when it comes to their kids.

There are always consequences to choices. My best friend's youngest daughter has hair down past her rear. She has to put it up. My oldest daughter has long hair - she has to put it up for work. People with tats often have to cover them for their job. There are usually things you can to to comply and not have to completely change things. There is also the option to not go to that school, or work in that place.

People are getting crazy about things. My daughter went in for an interview the other day and it was a big group situation. She said you wouldn't believe how most of the people dressed. She was one of the only one's there who wasn't in shorts or jeans. And then they wonder why they can't get a job.

again define distraction. we have to be careful with that.

you and I said that she couldve easily shortened it. they also told her to straightened (its in the article) allegedly.
ike I stated earlier , I have a problem with them allegedly telling her to straighten the hair and not going after the bullies

if it was a white girl she wouldnt have to straighten it like they allegedly request.

another issue is about fitting in
