Agreed and its usually met with a resounding not my fault. I'm curious how serious is the racism in tech? I've heard different stories.

True. But until the lay white person learns that we have more in common than we have different and they decide to make substantial moves, nothing will appreciably change.

We as descendants of Africans did not develop the issue of "race" and associated pathologies of "race". Those who classify themselves as "white" created this and they must ultimately destroy it.

Well the almost 3 years that i worked in/lived in PA, it was terrible. Now that I'm back in NY it's a non-issue

    I see.

I must have missed your answer. So is that a:

    - "yes" you would be cool with that if the HR admin said "I say to hell with history. It's in the past." with regard to your previously worked time or...

    - "no" you would not be cool with that if the HR admin said "I say to hell with history. It's in the past." with regard to your previously worked time?

I agree which, by that explanation I view most white people as racist. Besides, it's more than just an apology that needs to happen' what are you doing to reverse the horror that your collective fore parents reigned onto the world from which you currently benefit?

    I agree with this comment.
The people who control events also use whites too if it has to. Indeed I have often said that as white women, we might have a lot in common with black men.

Most whites see these events a shistpry. Past tense. Nothing to do with us. So we dont have to do anything.
We dont ask ourselves what we can do NOW to change the legacy.

Good to hear. I often think of leaving because the cost of living is crazy especially where I live but dealing with the bs keeps my ass right here

None of the above. It doesn't happen at Wal-Mart.

My great, great grandfather was a slave. His given slave name was Penn. But when he was a free man he learned how to read and write. He changed his name to Reid(an English, German, French, Scottish name). I'm not about seeking reparations for slavery. I owe it to my forebears and myself to be the best man I can be and live as best as I can. They're not in this world anymore and they are in a better world than this one.

I haven't either with folks I actually know in real life. Well, one or two. In fact, the men (and women) I actually meet have a mindset that mirrors Gorath's. These are mostly conversations with individuals or groups online.

Careful, you may wake some of the posters that want to believe racism only exists in the south. It's more fun to be ignorant. :smt042

Central PA is HORRIBLE! They're not used to educated people of color. Couldn't stand it!

Controlling a part of the economy isn't bad but it would require Blacks to work together w/o benefiting non Blacks, which is something that is almost non-existent thanks to forced integration.
