my thoughts: *okay they are starting rei off REALLY HIGH..she has gifted force abilities and was able to use the jedi mind trick (tho no one told her that was even possible considering she thought luke and the force was a myth)... she BESTED a trained force adept in her first dual with NO TRAINING and used force telekinesis to draw a lightsaber away from him. Luke on the other hand had trouble using force techiques even when trained by yoda.. so either kylo ren is super soft or rei is a fucking super saiyan jedi. The way they set her up I don't see much tension in her battles with ren in the future episodes. It will be interesting to see how other directors play that out. * An even larger death star??? again?? seriously?? they even lampooned it by coming up with a half assed plan to bring it down much in the SAME WAY...this makes the empire look more and more stupid and the plotting just lazy as we go at this point:smh::smh: * for a franchise called STAR wars not much action happened IN SPACE..all major battles and dog fighting action scenes took place in the skies of a planet. Something just felt off about that. It was like JJ Abrams wasn't really interest or could be bothered to do any actual space battle scenes except that brief one where finn and poe escape. * So R2 just sat inert all this time for what exactly?? then come to find out this nigga had the map all along?? Was there a reason he kept this info from leia? Ranking them in terms of best episode... Empire Strikes Back is STILL the best episode then its Return of the Jedi The Force Awakens A New Hope prequels (doesn't matter theyre all equally shitty)
I liked the movie, but I was a little irritated with how incapable Finn came across. I know the story was designed to focus on how badass Rey is, but it made Finn seem like her goofy sidekick.
Got some splainin' to do... The Force can be inherited apparently, Luke did some things in the beginning, too. (Defended against laser drone with a Light Saber while blindfolded instructed by Obi Wan Kenobi in Episode 4) Rey is obviously Luke's Daughter. Which explains why the Force is strong within her. A line or two added in the movie would have been better. During the Light Saber battle between Kylo and Rey, she says, "The Force". Then she starts fighting more furiously. She should have said, "The Force, I'll show you the Force!" Also in the end, Luke and Rey just stare at each other. Luke should mentally have thought (Which the audience would hear in voice over) "Rey" and Rey should have thought (Voicer Over again) "Father!" and then end the movie with credits. That would have been more dramatic, instead of keeping the audience guessing. They want to keep the bloodlines a secret for the next movie, obviously. Which explains no explanation why the hug between General Leia and Rey. (Aunt and Niece) Too many spoilers out there already. I knew Han Solo was going to die. A News anchor on TV asked "Did you Cry?' about reviews of the movie. Good, but not great. Death Star destruction ending in every movie. (Think of a new ending, will ya, Disney? Really boring) Just like Harry Potter, always battle with Voldimort in the end in every movie, etc., Hasn't the Empire, the First Order or the Sith figured it out already? FIX the same weakness for each Death Star. It's like they're too stupid to know what destroyed the previous Death Stars. I predict: First Interracial kiss on the lips between Finn and Rey in upcoming Star Wars sequels. The first of its kind...
Some People are born with more Force than others... Since Kylo Ren is half Jedi (OR Dark Jedi, half from General Leia) Rey is full Jedi (Remains to be seen who her mother is, Luke is strong in the Force) So she has twice as much Force power as Kylo Ren Kylo Ren is a baby Darth Vader, just starting out. It's all in the genetics. Genetics beats training, I guess... Of course they don't explain this in the movie...
I didn't have a problem with her being a force adept and fighting well...we see that she can handle herself earlier in the flick but I DID have a problem with her doing a jedi mindtrick without knowing what the hell that is.
I think the movie was implying that she had already been instructed in Jedi techniques and the confrontation with Ren jogged her memory.
They are inconsistent... Kylo Ren is powerful enough to stop a laser beam in mid flight but a babe in the woods when trying to read Rey's mind or fight her. She has genetics on her side but it is inconsistent. Needs to be explained how she knew Jedi mind tricks... Or how she knew Telekinetics without training... The ET looking woman (Po, I think) just should have just said she had some Jedi Knight training when she was young(From Luke) . But forgot....
I enjoyed this film very much. No, it was not perfect, but it was a great time at the movies and I really liked it. - Every reveal of a classic character (or ship) was very well done. The Millennium Falcon reveal in the first act was magnificent! - Rey, Finn and Kylo Ren were all excellent. I can't wait to see more from all three of them. - I like that the movie didn't try to cram in a lot of extra points and left us wanting more. That said, I thought these were the weak points: - I thought Domhnall Gleeson's performance as General Hux was exaggerated. I know that he was trying to come across as a fanatic, but it was a bit much. - After all the hype, I found Captain Phasma to be basically superfluous. In the end, she was a plot device to get the shields down - I would have liked for Luke to have at least said something. But those minor points were not enough to come close to ruining the movie for me. I can't wait to go see it again
