...And the guy stands there like "ok -- do it"... That's balls I guess -- but again somehow, it's kinda misplaced. This reminds me of the girl who got tossed around for refusing to leave the classroom... Why pick such random points to make your stand? If you're willing to give your life for something, aren't there more productive points to make? More productive ways to give your all? Resisting is just stupid. That doesn't mean that the cops should have a right to murder -- after all, it's their JOB to deal with the stupid, the crazy, the intoxicated, the desperate... That's what cops are FOR. ...And when they can kill at will and have the "justice" system back them up, we're ALL in danger... But damn -- pick your battles ... If it were a crook or a kook holding the gun to his head, I bet he would comply. Well, cops are also often crooks and kooks... If the dude has a gun, just try to de-escalate! :smt115
If you know anything about what happened in that story, you wouldn't be giving the brother shit. This is nothing like the girl in the classroom. This dude did nothing wrong to provoke any response from the officer in the first place. (Not that in any way condone what happened to that girl.) He was sitting in his cousin's car out in front of his own house, and the cop pulled up and started harassing them. He asked if he was under arrest, and when the cop said "no," he started to walk to his front door. That's when the cop chased after him and put the gun to his head the first time, which prompted his cousin to start recording the video. This ain't about the brother antagonizing the police officer. At that point, he'd already had a gun pointed to his head multiple times for no fucking reason. He stood his ground like that because it seemed like the cop was looking for an excuse to shoot him. According to the DA's office who prosecuted the cop, the cop had two friends in his cruiser for an unauthorized ride along that he was showing off for. Read up on the incident before running your mouth: https://www.washingtonpost.com/loca...d3ec04-992b-11e5-94f0-9eeaff906ef3_story.html https://www.washingtonpost.com/loca...96cb34-cf07-11e4-8a46-b1dc9be5a8ff_story.html It's amazing that this pro-cop propaganda is so deeply ingrained that you got black people criticizing other black people who are victims of police abuse. There's no debate about whether this cop was right or wrong. He got convicted of assault for what he did in that video.
Seriously bruh. You're here, with a straight face, giving a brother shit for not falling to his knees and grovelling in front of some racist fucking pig who was violating protocol and threatening him for no reason?
Well, thanks for spelling out the backstory. I didn't know all that. But anyway, all I'm saying is it just makes sense to get back in the car at that point, if you have an armed maniac with a badge & gun in front of you, and you think that would solve the problem. Pick your battles. By your logic, the dude shouldn't even have put his hands on the car and spread'em. He still submitted, right? What has he won? What if the camera wasn't there? What would he have won, then? If it's worth that much, then it's worth a fight in the future. I'm not "pro-cop" (or more accurately, I'm not pro-bully of any kind... Don't care much about cops either way, other than hate for the bad ones.). Just sayin' I would've gotten back in the car if there was a gun to my head and I thought that would solve the problem. In any case, I'm glad Mr. Santiago will serve time. Probably not the first time he did something like this. It's amazing what the power of guns does to small minds (probably small penis too). This guy is another zimmerman. Hooray for the power of video. I think it will actually help change things. p.s. -- If you think I've been had by the "pro-cop propaganda," you've got me all wrong... Never been like that, never will be. Not even into the constant hollywood pro-cop propaganda that everyone else seems so entranced by...
In dictatorships like saddam's iraq or assad's syria, or big brother in 1984, everywhere you look you see the face of the dictator, on posters, billboards, etc. In amurica, hollywood serves that role. Damn near every other movie commercial, every other movie billboard has an authority figure (or other "good guy") holding up a big gun. And as often as not, that movie hero is willing to "bend the rules" a bit to keep law and order. A lot of people get psyched into believing the bullshit about how dangerous cop's work is, how they're all brave heroes, and the "thin blue line", yada yada yada. Yet cop work is statistically not much more dangerous than a taxi driver's. The propaganda also goes to the heads of the cops. What they don't realize is if they're not about justice, they're just another gang. :!:
