Domestic abuse is committed with the intention of gaining and maintaining complete control over the victim. It rears its ugly head in many ways—and not all are physical... this makes it "easier" for both women and men to be victims. Abuse comes in the most commonly known form of physical abuse... to emotional, financial, and social abuse. It can begin with guilt and intimidation to wear the victim down. Although the majority of our population does not realize it since the focus usually ends up on the physical abuse, each method of abuse feels as devastating. http://goodmenproject.com/featured-content/seven-signs-you-are-a-victim-of-gaslighting-fiff/ This link is to an article with probably my favourite description of gaslighting... the reason I think so many people stay, even though they have the option to leave.
