She is biracial but even in the cartoon, she could have had a little of some other race or ethnicity in her blood. It probably was explored in an episode. The cartoons of the 80's included people of various races to get minorities to watch the show and buy the toys in which the show was created from. I see your point about the alteration of a character. The film The Martian is under fire because there wasn't an Asian actor to play a part that was in the book. But in every opening or closing credit sequence, the words "Based on", are always shown suggesting that the production is not a 100% like the source material. This gives the film maker creative license to alter story and characters it's been done many times before in many films and shows.

shayna was african american but that being said some creative license is understandable but he and his daughter should realize that certain changes might alienate the audience. ppl didn't just complain about shayna but all the main characters so they have to quit their bellyaching.

What's a "black" parent? What would a DNA test say about a "black" person??

Some of these people are as old as I am. This production will introduce Jem and the Hollograms to a new audience. Jem and the Hollograms is now on DVD.

And here we go. Someone foolish enough to believe they can define what "black" is. I knew there was going to be at least one person to travel that path of madness......

Aw shit. You got him on that hamster wheel now....

You are an actual idiot. If she considers herself black who are you to question it? get over yourself and take your purity bullshit elsewhere.

the point is the chick is mixed race....fact.

You can't define black and therefore can't say that she isn't black.........Fact.

nobody is an idiot except ppl like him and ppl who defend him like yourself. if we wanted a black child he would've impregnated a black woman. he marroied a white woman so it's a mixed race child. claims have nothing to do with it. if anyone could claim than rachel dolezal could be black and there would be no issue. he is only complaining because he thought he could get his daughter an advantage. he never cared about blacks before.

again it's logic....blacks equals black. biracial equals biracial. you only insult because you can't deal with simple facts. this is a forum for interracial relationships. the product of that union is a biracial. that's not black. depending on the percentage of the parents that's maybe 50 percent black. there's nothing foolish about common sense. it has nothing to do with identity.

    So what is black?

my point exactly. i don't know why on this site of all places this would be hard to understand. if you wanted a black child you marry a black person. if you don't you can't be surprised if your child isn't black. it's like gays expecting to have kids with each other. it doesn't work like that.

Dude. I have "biracial" kids. Because they have caramel colored skin and features that lean more black than white they both get looked at and are treated as "black" by EVERYONE. Black, white and non white alike. They have several "biracial" friends with similar features to theirs. Guess what they get looked at and treated as? Both of my kids know and except that they are biracial, but guess what they self identify as due to how they are looked at and treated?

But I digress. You clearly are far more of an expert when it comes to determining what classifies as "black" than I am...

that still doesn't deflect from what they are. which is my point.....they are biracial. it's not about being an expert...it's using logic. it's not hard to understand.....obama,tiger,we can go on are biracial. even more white passing ppl like mariah, megham markle and jessica szohr are biracial. i don't know what your issue is with my statement.

simple question- is rachel dolezal black? ppl identified her as black.
