Almost sounds like you are making a prediction right there. lol You want to assign a probability to that statement? I see where you are coming from, but there is a reason those rates were able to be low for such a long time. The talking heads are not going to keep saying that they expect no changes because at some point his listeners/clients are going to say "What are we paying you for??" :smt003 Rather than provide lip service a good analyst will focus his attention where he can find value and for the most part only use his knowledge of the federal reserve as an ingredient to his overall predictions.
Lol, the only reason I say there is a real chance for an increase is because multiple members of the FOMC are now on record as saying they support a rate hike in December, that has not happened for a LONG time, it is mainly Janet dragging her feet as chair. Agree with your assessment of the analysts.
Pretty much this. I do not trust someone who is super wealthy who is backed by the super wealthy to look out for my interests. Anyone in bed with Goldman Sach at this point is bordering on pure evil. If you consider yourself a progressive Sanders is the only way to go. And if he's smart he'llpick Warren as a running mate. Warren 2024
From what I gather about Bernie's ideas so far is that they are centered on the concept that money should only have economic power and not political power. That I agree with. When he has said "socialism" in the past that is what he was talking about, not the other idea of socialism that most people think of when they hear the word. The first thing that comes to mind when I hear socialism is the radical version of getting rid of the stock market ect. That would be awful to say the least because altruism does not work. There is no real science behind it. That's why it will always be a poor business model.
Well he's more about democratic socialism and that does work in places like Finland and Switzerland. All I know is the current system doesn't work for the people something has to give.
Sanders said, "In the Middle East, Saudi Arabia has the third-largest military budget in the entire world. They're going to have to get in and take on ISIS as well as other countries in that region. The United States should be supportive. We should be working with other countries. But the United States cannot always be the only country involved in these wars." While there are a few different ways to calculate this statistic, both studies we looked at placed the size of Saudi Arabia’s military budget at or near No. 3 in the world. http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2015/aug/30/bernie-s/bernie-sanders-saudi-arabia-has-third-largest-mili/ This is the one thing Bernie said that gets my vote. I don't subscribe to any political party because I don't see party platforms as philosophically coherent. What is fiscally conservative about paying for everyone's war? Why aren't democrats for school vouchers? Why are Republicans for "states rights" so long as the states vote conservatively? (i.e. no gay marriage, no marijuana, no right to death?) I don't necessarily have an opinion on these issues, but I can't reconcile why any party comes down one way or another on any given issue. Bernie pointed out that we've created a state of dependence, where all the nations depend on the US to intervene and bear the cost (human and otherwise) for all wars. A system of social welfare on a global scale. Literally. Bernie's statements about Saudi footing the bill - for human (and other) capital makes him more conservative than any Republican. Call me naive. And what "incident" was more reckless, costly, intentional, and grossly mistaken: (1) Benghazi or (2) invading Iraq? I know I'm preaching to the choir ...
But boy do I love when you preach. Such good sense right here. I wasn't even aware that he made this statement but it makes me like him even more. I personally like his take on free education as well as holding Wall St accountable. He's also a better option since he's not in bed with big business and refused a donation from that shit bag who wanted to jack up the price on AIDS medication. He keeps showing me integrity. I will definitely be campaigning for him if he gets the nom and if he picks Warren as a running mate I'm using some of my vacation time to go to Ohio to campaign for him
Maybe more people need to campaign for him now so that he has a chance to get the nomination. I will likely be voted for him in the primary.
I honestly forgot that they were even running for office. Hell, I forgot that Lincoln Chafee even existed!
The problem with voting Republican, even if he or she is a moderate, is that that person has to cowtow to the extreme right in some very important ways. So, you end up getting all of that far right, conservative baggage with him. Contrast that with voting for someone like Hilary where you are more likely to get progressive policies in place. Even if they are watered down. Plus, there's the Supreme Court. You put a Republican in office this time around, you're going to help tip the court to the right. Also, all of those lesser courts that are appointed by the administration? You'll have conservative judges on those and they help set precedent. So, by the time something worms it's way up to the Supremes, the conservative judges have cover and can site legal precedence for one of their fucked up rulings. There is far, far, more at stake regarding who wins presidential elections than most people realize. Energy policy, education, war, etc ... One of my mentors (who usually voted republican at the time he told me this) told me to never vote for someone because you like their personality or because they seem trust worthy. NONE OF THEM ARE BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO COMPRIMISE TO GET THINGS DONE. It's the nature of government. He schooled me about only voting for ideas and policy because people will let you down. But policies and ideas can be carried to the next person or group of people. I don't like Hilary, per se. Like most of you I'd rather vote for Sanders. But, if Hilary wins she's getting my vote because I know that the issues I care about will be moved further toward the goal post than they would if a Republican got into office. If your team's star QB is someone you can't stand, are you going to toss the ball to the opposing team so they can score against your squad? Of course not. So, why would you do any less for something as important as the direction of this country?
That's easy for you to say because you are a liberal. Correct me if I'm wrong about that. I don't feel like I belong on any team and I always stand a chance of losing out no matter which party becomes president. If I vote for a democrat I still have to worry about him or her catering to the far left, that's not much more appealing than the far right. I don't agree with all of Bernie's ideas but I think he is passionate and I think he can do a lot more good than harm. Usually I prefer a democrat as president while I prefer the republicans to control at least one chamber of congress. You make a good point about the courts, that is worth considering, but lets not get carried away and act as if the liberals don't have baggage. Just to name a few things I don't like about the left. 1.) Lack of support for active duty military. I'm not talking about general defense spending we actually can cut some of that if we do it right. I'm talking about the way the dems neglect active duty personnel when it comes to raises ect. There is a reason why career military guys that go into politics are almost always republicans. 2.) Welfare Last time I checked if a man lives with a woman she is technically not eligible to receive it. Way to help break up families. 3.) Immigration If you are illegal that's a problem, you broke the law and there should be consequences. No open border forgiveness policy. 4.) Guns If guns are soo bad then why not make them illegal for everyone, police and military included. Ohhh I forgot some people are considered to be infallible and should have privileges that us ordinary humans shouldn't have. 5.) Free college? Really. If college becomes free the access to higher education will have to become much more restricted in order to be feasible. The college experience in Europe is much more rigorous and competitive and more people get left out in the cold. Over there your sole motivation must be for your career or it's not worth the trouble. Personally I'm competitive, but I go to school for more than one reason, every course I take is not for a specific program, and if my school kicks me out for something stupid under the current system I have the option to go somewhere else. Right now I'm studying french culture and language in addition to my regular program and I wouldn't want our country to adopt their system of higher education at all.
Quite a few of your points are not realistic or true. Point 5 alone. The State of Florida provides free education if you can maintain a certain gpa and volunteer hours. I did that. It has been like that for decades. They never changed anything. I was able to explore topics. I started out as a physics major. I went to electrical engineering. I took classes in business. I took classes in mechanical engineering. I took classes in Spanish. I took classes in economics. I later switched to computer engineering. I then switch to computer science. I then took all the prerequisites to biology and chemistry. I took classes in chemical engineering and biomedical engineering. I had credits closer to 200 credits than 120. At one point, I was over the allotted amount of credits to be funded but because I was taking 20 something credits in one semester and keeping a good gpa. They allowed me to keep going. This all happened under free tuition. I have a hard time understanding what you are saying about point 5 where I have been through it. I explored A LOT..... I switched to multiple majors. I jumped to several minors before settling. no one forced me into what you are saying. The state of florida has had this program longer than I have been alive. Several of the Southern States provide the same. Nothing would change except that people wouldn't be paying for it. The Pell grant also offers free tuition. I used that as well again I don't get your point because I have been through it. Point 4 not realistic How do you even begin to collect the guns? Once it is out there it is out there. Some people will not voluntarily give up their guns. The cost to even collect them has to be at least over a million dollars. Forget having a gun free nation. Just trying to collect them is not possible. Point 3 There are over 1 million people here. How do you begin to collect those people? The other 2 points... I have no facts on. I feel as if you have heard rumors that twisted you away. Some of the things that I feel you are for are more leaning towards the democratic party.... It doesn't do you a service to stay home when you disagree on a few points and have another party that is farther away from your wants. That other party will push you farther away from your goals if it wins. This isn't a tirade to say that you are wrong. It is more to say that the democratic party is offering more so what you want than the republican party is. By not voting for the party that is more aligned to you... You put yourself two steps back as oppose to one or none.
Plus, I think that the Benghazi hearings actually helped her which isn't what the GOP was hoping for. Love or hate her, she was as cool as ice during that session. I'd like to see Trump, Carson, or Cruz maintain their composure like that through an 11(!) hour hearing.
5.) You are making my point. Under the current circumstances there is enough access to college to those that are willing to put forth the effort or pay for it. Bernie is trying to make college free for EVERYONE. Under those circumstances things would be quite different. At my school if you don't register right away then you will be put on a waiting list and will likely miss out on classes that you need, because we already have a lot of students going there. They can also boot me from my program if I withdraw from too many classes. I think its like 8 in a 4 year period. There is a possibility that someone can have a tough semester then drop their classes before the drop date and receive a W rather than an F for the courses. If they have a death in the family and decide to take a break and drop classes again 3 1/2 years later, they will be forced to change their major. It doesn't even matter how far along they are. Under the current system they can at least go to another school instead of being completely out of luck. You may want to do some research on the European system of higher learning and start by looking at one of the big countries like France before you sign off on a not so good idea. 4.) Again you are helping to make my point. How about telling that to the far left, thanks. lol 3.) First of all start penalizing the people who employ them with heavy fines then go from there. Thank you Samson. 2.) My grandmother lived in the projects and I spent a significant amount of time there when I was growing up. I know what I said about welfare to be true unless they finally changed it, I doubt that they did. 1.)I am a military veteran. If you doubt what I said, ask some veterans for yourself. Better yet ask the veterans who made a career out of it if you really want a dose of red pill.
