You didn't write the article but you also didn't feel the need to preface your post with a diplomatic disclaimer...something nice people do given their audience Not that I'm complaining.....i love anarchy But if ur going to be a dick, be a DICK :drinkers:
why would i feel the need to pander with a diplomatic disclaimer... you love drama...i always know where the action is if you are posting in a thread...
Lippy, I don't think there was an issue with you posting the article. The issue that was taken was with what you chose to write to preface the article, and then the comments you posted afterwards. The terms you choose "acting a fool" and "getting themselves killed" are what stirs things. You also said you didn't feel any connection to the man who was killed. This isn't the case for many other people. Many of us do feel a connection to people who are being wronged. We empathize and realize it could be one of our family or friends. Sometimes it's simply because what we see is clearly wrong and something needs to be done to change things. People only know about incidents if someone speaks up about it and does something about it. Some people have learned that the way to get something done is by causing attention (whether positive or negative). The story is a sad one and I personally have to wonder if it was a situation involving mental health issues and/or drugs (or both). Which also happen to be major issues in our country. Both of which I have worked with to make changes about in our area (no matter what color the skin). Btw, there are national statistics that are kept on police shootings and killings if anyone wants to take a look at them, I know they can be found on the web.
i don't have a problem...this is a forum...it is not my entire life...how some of you have time to post 24/7 is the problem...you only care about insulated events...there is a big world going on all around you...open your eyes
Yeah that's the problem the inability to recognize the suffering of others. Ironic coming from you "Stop acting the fool"
i am able to recognize the suffering of others...my scope is a bit larger than you though so i also weigh out stupidity...i see suffering far and wide across the world...in all types of injustices i have empathy for people and animals... in this particular article i think the man acted foolish and ended up getting himself killed...did he suffer yes...will his family suffer yes...do i feel connected to this crime no...he is white and i am white so why don't i feel connected...in comes stupidity or foolishness..call it whatever you want...this man had no respect for the police...he brought this incident on himself...could the police have handled it better yes...did they need to shoot him no...do we have a problem in the USA with police violence/power yes...do we also have a problem with people not respecting a uniformed officer yes there are two sides to this issue and until you are willing to look at the other side then there will be no solution you can call me racist and i will report you every time you do...i take offense to the label...
Then don't say blatant insensitive racist shit. Look if it was a poor choice of words own that shit but don't pretend that you don't see how your wording isn't offensive. By saying your white and don't feel connected to what happen is implying that the only reason black people care about the brash of police brutality is as simple as they're I'm black so I'm going to be outraged. It not only boils the situation down to a matter of over simplistic mob mentality but you imply that blacks aren't thinking for themselves and can't recognize the bigger picture. By also using the term "act the fool" you fall into the category of people who honestly believe that if black folks just did as they were told they wouldn't be getting shot down for the most minor of infractions. Do you not see where you went wrong?
i don't think it was a poor choice of words at all...you ran with it and wanted to attach it to other stories...but in this instance the man was acting foolish...damn the article said erratic...and got himself shot and killed now you bring up something quite interesting...would you agree that if this man had not stopped beside the police and trapped the door...stopped and danced in the street...the police would not have followed him and he would still be alive today? let's just say you do, the behavior caused the end result of him being killed... i believe that we have power tripping police that are doing a job that they are not trained well enough to do...i think the majority of them start the day with the motto kill someone else before they kill me...frightened people that work in a uniform i also believe that each time something like this happens we learn from it...unfortunately we are losing lives left and right as people learn...that can only create a light bulb moment of survival skills in dealing with these situations... there are two sides...you immediately wanted to talk about other recent crimes where people were killed by the police...i am focused on this article...people in des moines, iowa do not protest police brutality because it's just something they see on the news...it's not in their wheelhouse
Lippy you'rethe one who brought up not feeling connected even though he's white. You connected this shit to other instances by saying that otherwise what reason is there to bring it up?
Rhode Island officer who kicked cuffed woman in the face fights for job. Edward Krawetz, an officer with the Lincoln Police Department, has been suspended from the force for 10 years after a conviction for assaulting a cuffed suspect.
I can't believe I missed this thread. Well lippy is gone again so no need to ask what I wanted to ask.
I don't see a suspended without pay part to that. If he has pay then they just gave him a vacation for 10 years. edit: I found that he was suspended without pay. http://www.woonsocketcall.com/node/4426
I bet he wouldn't even kick his dog like that. But when these cats put on the uniform, it's like they leave their conscience in the bathroom.
