but isn't that the problem? if one moment hurts white folks feelings enough to leave shows they weren't committed to begin with.

They did that to Gov.O'Malley too. The group thinks the Dems took the Black's votes for granted. If that group did that to a GOP candidate they would be met with brute force.

You're giving the leaders of the #Blacklivesmatter a pass for their own ignorance and stupidity which in a way is a form of paternalism.

No one has yet explained why a liberal activist civil rights group would target the biggest leftie in the Senate, Bernie Sanders, or Martin O'Malley who's also bluest of blue.

These young activists are learning that a hashtag is not enough to give a movement any kind of media or public momentum.

Who said the leaders were involved?

He put in 1 bill from what I found back in 2001. Everything else is bs. You need action and not talk. The BLM movement would be better served in making bills.

Marissa Johnson, the idiot who led the protest, apparently isn't any kind of liberal.

    So who would be better?

Hillary, who's essentially running on her husband's record? Never mind that "first black president" bullshit. Bill Clinton didn't do a goddamned thing for black people. He supported free trade and unchecked immigration, which hurt black workers. He supported financial deregulation, which allowed financial institutions to prey on blacks who were looking to become homeowners. He had no qualms about race baiting to win elections (ie Sister Souljah, Ricky Ray Rector and Hillary's primary campaign after Obama started to capture the black vote.) He also supported all of that get-tough-on-crime legislation that increased mandatory minimums and disproportionately put more black people in prison.

Martin O'Malley, who was responsible for instituting the aggressive police policies in Baltimore that led to the death of Freddie Gray and the recent riots when he was Mayor?

Jim Webb, who has claimed repeatedly that white privilege doesn't exist, that the Democratic party panders too much to blacks and recently defended the Confederate flag? (Yes, this guy is running in the Democratic primary for president.)

I won't even mention any of the Republicans.

If you have issues with Bernie, fine. (Although, I'll get into why you shouldn't when I post more about his record later on today when I have the time.)

However, there are plenty of people in this race that deserve to be attacked before Bernie for not properly addressing the well-being of black people in the US.

You are doing the exact same thing that the BLM did to Bernie sanders. You are going after a person who is more likely to help and in Bill Clinton's case has done so.

Sander's isn't going to win. I'm just waiting it out. The far right wants trump and far left wants sanders. Guess what folks there is a reality. You have to be able to gain the most amount of votes and sanders doesn't have the black vote or the hispanic vote. He has the far left vote and that's not enough to win.

#BLM did issue an apology on their behalf, or for their behavior...Now either they knew and it backfired, or they didn't and thus can't really be held responsible for two rogue participants.

Who knows though, this might make them regroup and start to nationally organize, otherwise they will end up like #OccupyWallStreet, with no real direction and too many 'leaders' jockeying for the spotlight.

bernie isn't a sacred ham....the issue is him not them...he needs our votes not the other way around. he has been the one who barely interacts with them but can find time to go to racist liberty university.

You don't hijack events to get your message out. That's bullshit.
If you wanna hold a rally, hold your OWN rally. You don't jump onstage when someone else is about to speak and threaten to shut this entire event down unless they give you the mike.

That's not an effective civil rights strategy.

When the Panthers, Malcolm X, MLK, etc., wanted to get their message out, THEY set up a microphone in a church, a park or an event hall and dropped KNOWLEDGE.

These women jumped on stage and basically started screaming at the top of their lungs when they were confronted.

BTW this is from the facebook page of this Marissa chick. I might have been wrong about which political party was behind this attack.

What the fuck do you think Bernie Sanders is going to say at Liberty University in September???

Sanders is going to give a speech that condemns everyone at that school as not being a real Christians or practicing the true teachings of the Bible.

Bernie is going there for a smack down, not to suck up to conservatives.

If #Blacklivesmatters wants to have a forum with Sanders, organize one.

But I bet it would be boring as hell because after they tried to shout him down about how racist this country is, Bernie would say, 'I agree.'

The first step in any movement is defining the enemy.
Look at O'Malley's entire record in Baltimore, including as governor.

You don't win many wars turning your guns on your own troops.

Like I said, these millennial civil rights activists are trying to reinvent the wheel with more extremist tactics. That always goes sideways.

Effective civil rights activism isn't sexy or glamorous our shocking, it's about constant vigilance and never letting ANYTHING slide.
When you see civil rights being violated, you speak on it publicly, bring it to the media's attention and protest.

    Rinse and repeat.

#Blacklivesmatters is using the Dubya strategy and applying it to civil rights.

he has cancelled two events with them(blm) already......again bernie is no saint. if his white liberal sensibilities can't handle push back then he won't win.

Before or after they interrupted two events Bernie was scheduled to speak??

Anyway I haven't read anything where BLM has tried to organize an event with Sanders and he turned them down.

Sounds like spin from BLM to justify their tactics.

Again it makes no sense that out of ALL the candidates running for POTUS in 2016, Bernie Sanders is the one BLM chooses to target.

    Explain that to me.

It wouldn't surprise me if Hillary is behind this...the real test will be if this happens to her. So far, it's happened only to her competition.

Things are getting curiouser and curiouser.

When I watched the footage I thought it was pretty bizarre that Sanders would be singled out. That one really had me scratching my head.

Kind of like anti abortion activists crashing a Mike Huckabee rally. Doesn't make any sense.

point 1- it was before-The reaction of the candidates after the protest was varied and significant. O’Malley spent the entire day sitting with activists, publicly apologizing for his “white/all lives matter” remarks in an interview with This Week in Blackness and generally atoning for his performance. Sanders canceled all his events, including meetings with black and brown activists.
point2- the blm wasn't a part of this....so stop blaming them.
point3- he's not untouchable....he has shown he is robotic and and out of touch.

From what you wrote, it appears it was AFTER the first protest..that he cancelled all appearances, INCLUDING with Black and brown activists.
