The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating a video showing a handgun being fired from a drone in Connecticut.

The video – posted to YouTube July 10 and titled “Flying Gun” – shows a quadrotor drone with a semi-automatic handgun mounted and firing remotely in the woods.

This is potentially dangerous. Murders can be committed and it would be harder to solve.

U have other things that could be dangerous to the public. Example you car can be hacked and the hacker can take over your car.

Has technology gotten way too much and dangerous?

 

I read a comment on an article about this and someone posted a link to a YouTube video from 3 years ago where some guy hooked a machine gun to a drone.

This is one of those times that we, as citizens, can say, "Thanks, Obama" and mean it.

As for this specific case

The gun drone in Connecticut appears to have been fired on private property and -- so far, authorities said -- it did not appear any laws were broken. There were no complaints from neighbors until after the "Flying Gun" video went viral with almost 2 million views as of Tuesday, authorities said.
"It appears to be a case of technology surpassing current legislation," police in Clinton, Connecticut, said.


The Federal Aviation Administration and federal law agencies are also investigating "to determine if there were any violations of criminal statutes," the FAA said.

Brave new world but not even really worried. I see this no different than a sniper. People have had the ability to long distance kill since the bow and arrow.

Again its long distance killing no different than a sniper to me. And because they operated electronically with wireless tech its actually probably far easier to track them and solve a crime. Everything leaves a signature especially digital crimes. Part of my job has shown me how much doing things digitally leaves you so exposed.

Exactly there's very little you can do to trace a gun back to an individual unless they already have the suspect in mind but we constantly leave digital trails very few people have the skill set money and time to mask themselves. I a lot more concerned about biological weapons in crowded places.

Also in my mind if i invented that thibg i would have regrets giving it to the public and not hyst govt use.

Yeah saw it on Young Turks. I actually like it. It makes human drivers still useful and attractive for liability issues.I'm concerned about tech replacing people for jobs. Thank God for hackers and viruses
