........I watched as much as they would show of the video...... several times....and it appears she was just on the verge of being set free to drive off.....wow !!..........Just another 2 minutes of all-around ego composure.....
The cop's job - what he was trained to do, Is to de-escalate situations. It seems some cops today forget that. She overreacted, and so did he, but he's the one with the power, so he should never abuse that In order to overpower. According to records they said she was evaluated by questionnaire before being placed in the cell. What did the officer lie about, l don't know the details...synopsis?
He wrote her a warning...right then & there...both should have gritted their teeth and bid each other a good day. BTW... Rodriguez v. United States : held that police could not extend the length of a routine traffic stop, even for just a few minutes, absent a safety related concern or reasonable suspicion to believe that the driver may have committed an additional crime. As Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg explained in the opinion of the Court, “[t]he tolerable duration of police inquiries in the traffic-stop context is determined by the seizure’s ‘mission’ — to address the traffic violation that warranted the stop, and attend to related safety concerns.” A police stop “may ‘last no longer than is necessary to effectuate th[at] purpose.’ Authority for the seizure thus ends when tasks tied to the traffic infraction are — or reasonably should have been — completed.”
He was a jerk from the start by stoking her. He asked (to some extent) "u seem upset. Why are u upset" I mean honestly who throws a party when they get a traffic ticket
I have always practiced....keep your answers short and complain when u get home. Theres been times i got out if a ticket for cracking jokes. A cop asked why i didnt pull over sooner. I had went a few miles and pulled in the parking lot instead of the side of the road . I responded "i didnt want see u going starsky and hutch on my car trying to avoid traffic" He gave me warning. I knew he wanted laugh but he didnt
Actually, that's not what most cops are trained to do these days. They're trained to take people down hard the second that they "resist" or refuse to follow instructions. They also view certain groups of people as the enemy. If you want you an idea about how police officers are trained to operate, watch this interview with an ex-cop:
GOBB - Sandra was "Guilty Of Being Black" White Police officer didn't like being disobeyed. What is this Police officer's history of other arrests? Arrested for failing to disobey an order to stop smoking in her own car? Police Officer lied about being kicked? Light you up with a Taser? For What? Her attitude? Police video tape was edited in the jail cell. Someone or somebodies were there to kill her. The other Policemen conspired to cover up Murder. Including other Black Police officers. They killed her by using the plastic garbage bag and strangled her.
THIS^^^^^! She was cool until that prick started being obnoxious. Think about the stop which people are overlooking; she's driving down the road, sees a cop car SPEEDING up behind her, so like any good citizen who sees an emergency vehicle, she veers to another lane to let him pass. This asshole pulls her over and gives her a ticket for failing to use her signal lights to shift lanes. Insanity. I don't remember the last time I saw someone turn on their signal lights to shift lanes on the highway. Now if I KNOW I've been pulled over for some bullshit reason and I'm biting my tongue, then the P.O. says, 'you seem upset,' I would have cursed his ass out. And probably been tazed for it. Also, I can see how 3 days in jail for a totally bullshit reason and you have to make bail to get out could fuck with your head if you're emotionally vulnerable. Your thoughts in those type of situations can take you to some really dark places.
Even though the contact is off-camera, protesters are focusing on his threats to "light her up". He sounded like he was totally ready to "take it there". Obviously, there's more to this, but it's a long way from a traffic stop to hanging in a jail cell.
Hindsight is always 20/20 and unfortunately this poor woman paid with it for her life. I know it's hard when you're in the heat of the moment, but you're right, when a cop, holding a taser, threatens to "light you up", you need to calm the f*ck down and be as cooperative as possible because you're dealing with someone who is most definitely on a power trip. Maybe she still would have been arrested even if she did cooperate, but unfortunately we'll never know. I do believe the police officer needs to be permanently relieved of his duties. I read the transcript of the portion right before he threatens to pull her out of the car and this dude has NO BUSINESS being a cop. None. There was NO REASON for it to have escalated to arresting this woman. This is all on the cop. Whether this woman had attitude or not, does not give this cop reason to do what he did, IMHO.
I agree. Keep your cool and take the ticket. However he should lose his job. I think she was murdered
You're right. When a person has you outgunned, from a superior position, you should surrender/submit. Otherwise you're taking your life in your own hands. A civilian should never be placed in the position of having to submit or grovel to preserve their life, but unfortunately when you're facing someone that the law privileges in their interactions with citizens, you're fighting a losing battle.
You can be as docile and compliant as possible and still get beaten or shot by a cop whose blood is up. Look at this shit: The guy who was arrested had his hands up before the beating started and actually bent over and put his hands behind his back while he was being hit in the face, yet the cops continued to hit him and then charged him with "resisting."
That is horrible. What happened to the police officers? It's unfortunate that the video doesn't have audio so we can gain a better picture of what transpired, but wow. In this instance, it doesn't matter if you comply or not, but I would still venture to say that the majority of times, if you comply with the police stuff like this won't happen. I hope that man sues the PD.
