His post was sincere though, and so was my answer. I can understand why he might think there's a possibility some of us may be privy to that info when it comes to our family members. There's no need to mock someone for asking a genuine question on a serious topic.
Im not mocking him. Hes smart he knows that . He also knows that you guys are not the ones to be asked that question. He need to go to the "conservative" website. They are the ones who push that thought process. Lastly, we examined this over and over. The simple answer is that people see what they want to see. We know that. Its human nature. If he go to those sites then beware. Also its burdensome to carry the weight of hate on your back as a black . It is punishing to our health so we better laugh about it or we will be venomous like they are (the dispensers of hate). Be angry but dont sin. If i was going to be an ass to him....then i wouldve done it the first response...dont u think? I knew he was sincere Oh that last line was funny. Your statement sums things up as far what this website should be.
That's not necessarily true at all. For example in Caribbean culture a lot of recent immigrants don't like their kids mixing with African Americans, some of you may know about this but aren't privy to why the way those of us brought up in the culture are. Making it specific to my own background a lot of Jamaicans aren't too fond of Haitians but as outsiders I'm sure I'd have to explain the messed up belief system to you. See the point? Asking white people why other white people may be racist is actually the best information source since they would have a much better chance of hearing the raw truth and would have years to process it than just simple hate.
I think the hoards of white people supporting police do so because they experience police much differently than you, as a bm, do. Many wp have no fear of police. We're inncocent until proven guilty. You're guilty based on skin color alone. Some wp just can't bring themselves to believe these horrific stories of injustice, brought on by the very people who are paid to protect and serve, because as a white person, we ARE protected she served. I think it's hard for some wp to accept what's going on in this country when their personal experiences don't match up with what the black community is dealing with. I have a few men in my family who blindly defend the police and it's embarrassing and infuriating. My post is just an attempt to try and explain how I perceive their warped way of thinking. Like Tam said, the men in my family who think this way certainly don't have long conversations with me about it. They know where I stand on these issues so their dealings with me are pretty few and far between. Birds of a feather stick together so they tend to avoid me.
I think your best bet is to Actually ask people who harbour those feelings, not just white people in general. Especially not people who don't harbour those feelings. I don't think we ,who don't harbor those feelings understand it just because we are white. I can't for the life of me understand why some people harbor such feelings. I can guess, but my guess is as good as yours.
I think Raider did a really good job of explaining without having those feelings because like I said earlier you are much more likely to get a first hand account and a much more honest answer than I will ever get unless I disguised myself as a white person online. Not to mention being that you don't think that way you'd have a better chance of translating it to me in a way that wouldn't make me immediately emotionally defensive. So Raider and anyone else who cares to chime in, how do we begin to heal this thing. I know its a huge question but this shit is happening so damn often. We need white allies to chime in and help figure this out because its already gone too far. I feel like damn near every week one of these stories surface and I can't help but think about the countless incidents not lucky enough to be caught on camera.
Yeah thats why i said go to the outside and ask.. specifically the "conservative" sites cause they are the ones have those feelings . See if rush limbaugh have a forum and go back and forth because they are hiding behind a screen so they will tell everything. Raider gave them more in depth version of my answer "...people see what they want to see...."
Haven't seen the footage yet But this story gets stranger and stranger. No activity detected outside her cell for 90 minutes. Footage shows she never kicked an officer, She was given a warning, then told to put out her cigarette She asks why...and ends up in handcuffs. Why was she told to get out? It's crazy... http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...cell-shows-no-activity-90-minutes-hanged.html
The video shows its been edited. It was reported on abcnews. One part showed the tow truck driver leaving the truck twice doing same moves and the same car passing twice in same direction. Hope u understand that...hard to describe
I watched only a small portion of the video. My question is this: Why did the officer, when he got her out of the car (was he holding her at gunpoint? I couldn't tell what he was holding in his hand), take her away from the dashboard cam for several minutes? That is extremely suspicious to me. I didn't watch the rest of it.
The way he was holding it, my mind never went to "taser", but I'm sure that's what it was, now that you mention it.
Basically she didn't want to put out her cigarette so this guy struck back. He then get caught lying on his report.:smt012 Conveniently, we have no video tape of the suicide. Now we have to believe this....
Watched PBS's NewsHour... they said that she had attempted suicide before, over losing a baby. The jail holding facility has also removed the plastic bags provided, from every cell as a result of what happened.
Even if she did kill herself, that traffic stop and the arrest were total bullshit. Texas DPS even admitted that the trooper violated protocol with his behavior in the stop. That cop needs to get done for false arrest and lying in the police report.
They may be on the hook financially cause i believe they are responsible for the health and welfare of a prisoner
