Police claims it was suicide. My guess she mouthed off. The White Policeman killed her, and faked the hanging to divert suspicion from themselves.

First Black woman killed in prison out of spite? I say not.

When is this outrage going to stop?

Race Wars are going to start because of all these killings.

Had not heard about this, so looked it up....hell yeah, It sounds like foul play.

Someone videotaped her arrest midway through it....
Giving a cop attitude and even kicking one (IF she did) is not tantamount to being murdered for it.
Fine, they can do an investigation, but we've seen this shit before. Poor woman...was no doubt horrified and terrified if she was murdered.

I don't know much about this case yet, but from what I saw on the news last night, she had posted videos a few months ago saying she was depressed and suffering from PTSD.

They said she was found hung with a garbage bag.

I'm not rushing to judgment on any of this yet, until I find out more info, but it does, right now, seem to add up to suicide.

The fbi is looking into it. They say she just started a new job.
She stated she felt depression and ptsd but that was alledgedly self diagnosed.

It was a traffic lane change violation. It was video of the cops roughing her up a bit.

No one commits suicide from a traffic stop for not signaling a left turn properly, which is total bullshit in the first place.

IMO this woman got indignant over being stopped for a completely ridiculous reason and these psycho cops went ballistic. From what I've read they slammed her head into the cement, typical, and the next thing we know the woman commits suicide. According to the trustworthy police.

Law enforcement should be required to have constant supervisory oversight and bodycams should be standard equipment nationwide.

As an institution, LE has gone rogue and been that way for since their inception.

None of this is new, what's different is the media has decided to pay attention to these stories.

According to a cnn talking head, while in custody the law enforcement is responsible for the inmates. The way he talked they are in trouble

Black folk have been accused of committing suicide in police custody for decades.
Yet Blacks have one of the lowest suicide rates in the country.

Yes she could have killed herself, but the odds are in the extreme that she did not.

Only a severely mentally disturbed woman is going to kill herself after a few hours in custody over a traffic violation.

A woman that depressed isn't traveling to some college reunion.

Something felt off about this situation as if it's being covered up so that there won't be anymore media exposure.

I don't believe she killed herself; it just doesn't add up. And how in the hell would she have even had access to a plastic bag in jail...so many things wrong with this whole situation, and it makes me so fucking mad & sick to my stomach. I pray they expose the truth and hold her killer(s) accountable, and my heart & prayers go out to her family as well.

There were a lot of alleged suicides in our local jail when I was a kid (none of the inmates were black though), and it happened enough & too many people became suspicious that they were no longer allowed to use the jail here but had to use the county jail in another town instead. It's my understanding that none of the deaths were ever investigated.

I hate for my son to even leave the house, because I'm so scared something will happen to him. Yesterday while visiting with family, the Sandra Bland story came on the news. Someone commented saying she wished the police would stop getting away with killing so many black people, and another family member blew up at her. He screamed at her that he was tired of the police being attacked for doing their jobs, and then he said "They just need to kill all the fucking n****** and be done with it!" The shock to hear that shit come out of his mouth was like a kick in the gut, and I'm glad my son wasn't there to hear it. Needless to say it got pretty intense after that, but I spoke my piece and got the fuck out of there as quickly as I could. I wanted to punch that old bastard in his fucking mouth. I never would have thought he'd ever say or even think something so horrible & disgusting, but one thing about times like these is you get to see people for who they truly are.

I now don't think they just murdered her for giving lip to them and here is why....

On the CHANGE.org petition calling for an independent autopsy and investigation that I was emailed, the creator suggested that due to the head injury by police, they believe she died from brain trauma and resulting hemorrhaging that was unattended to. (similarly to Freddie Gray not being seen by medics).

I recall her sister saying that during a phone-call with Sandra the following day after her arrest, she had complained that her shoulder was hurting and she thinks they broke it...not sure if a medic saw her or not. I think if she died as a result from the head trauma, then the cops may have covered it up, because that likely would have been manslaughter.

Also @ your last line, it's social media who got the media to pay attention.

Here's something I need explained to me by white people. With all of these kinds of things happening how can so many support the police so blindly. And the reason I'm asking white people because no other community seems to be in such support of the police in the same way. I got one brother who is already a cop and another who just took the test for the NYPD and even in skeptical as Fuck. This shit seems so blatant and obvious I don't see how anyone can reasonably defend this. I truly trying to gain a different perspective since I live in a perpetual echo chamber of people who already think like me.

Its best go outside this forum and ask

Why is that? I know that the women here don't feel that way but as Tam pointed out some of them are related to people who do think that way. And to be honest asking people outside of the forum will do no good. People in my personal life don't think that way and if they have family does think that way they hide it because they are ashamed and those who think like that aren't really going to be open to talking to me. At least here there's a fair amount of anonymity and distance so people can speak far more openly. Don't you think so?

The point is we don't have the answer to the question. Since we don't think the way some of our relatives do, we can't explain their messed up thinking. It's not like they're open to talking about it with us either.
