http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/nfl-s...ers-tells-geno-smith-hang-041253369--nfl.html boo hoo...he didnt go in the first round. what a little bitch or is he justified
I don't think he's acting like a bitch. According to the link you posted, he lost out on potentially 1.5 million just by slipping past the last pick in the first round. I don't know your financial situation, but losing 1.5 million guaranteed money would piss me off too. Besides, from an article I read earlier, he wasn't leaving NY with his panties in a twist due to not getting selected...his family was all scheduled to leave Fri (because it was assumed by all that he'd be picked Thursday). Convienant excuse? Possibly, but he stayed none the less. Dude's 22...he's bound to have moments of immaturity. From nfl.com:
he gonna get chosen.....regardless. if he hadnt messed himself up too bad. coaches watch everything. they may look at him and say "this fool cant handle a small disappointment like this....surely he isnt man enuff to handle tuff situations such as dipshits on the team, being down by 4 points and people messing up the last play or he just got picked off so will he lose it" that kind of shit. not a good look for him. hell people would love to be in the position he is in an he is losing it already
I definitely feel you, but if Manti T'eo can overcome the huge gf hoax, I'm sure Gino Smith can overcome this brief moment of immaturity. It's a very small blip on his draft day history and I doubt it'll have any lasting effect on his position in the NFL.
to me this is a non-issue. the more important matter is the pawg in the video with eddie george in your link......let's discuss that...
Totally agree! This isn't T'eo we are discussing. This is the man who will HEAD YOUR TEAM! Steer your team, rally his troops. You STAY FOR THE LAST SECOND OF THE 4TH QUARTER. No matter how humiliating the score.
Im glad you mentioned Teo (im gonna have to rep you soon)....nowpeople were downing him in a sense of how he will fall in the draft because he showed lack of judgement with that "situation". now that kid showed as much class as he could in the situation he was in versus geno so to me if they can down teo surely geno should be downed
Astute analogy, GL. You just called it perfectly. Besides, the LAST thing a QB ever wants coming new out the gate is PEOPLE FEELING SORRY for him. UGH! Or defending a character issue. No. Them's the breaks. Suck it up. When the lights come up, you get up, you say see you all tomorrow, you tell mom 'change your flight. I'm here for the long haul.'
Im sure you agree...that we arent saying he shouldnt be upset. I can understand why he is upset. I would be also. just dont act like a kid where everyone can see you. take it to the room in private and then curl up in the corner and suck your thumb. this is football. there is no whining in football again I understand why he is upset. I would be also. I would be mad as hell too but dont show it. but there is no ....hell the pic says it all
I know a bit about the coaching realm, and I'll say this, it may not hurt him on or near the field, but all the people that deal with admin, contract, negotiation type stuff will remember him. I wasn't going to look at the link until you came up with this lol
He's basically agreeing with you, GL ^^^ They will use it in negotiations LOL. Hey, this is no different than a player with an injury playing through it. You never let your opponent know. Sheeit, if that was me? I'd be breathing under my breath, 'oh its like that? Well once I'm picked, ima make every last team that passed on me pay. My whole life will be becoming a beast on the field and if not I will die trying. F*ck 'em, and just watch!' :smt070 This should be a motivator...no time for even private thumb-sucking tears, lol.
yes and deed. Im with you on that. I heard someone say in reference to geno "its not when you get picked. that doesnt matter. what matters is your performance on the field" hell he could look at as a blessing
Ike Reece, a former Eagles Special Teams beast said he was pick #142 in round 5, but when his name was called he felt like Peyton Manning. Basically saying when you get called up, screw the number and the round - its the realization of a LIFE-LONG dream ...to play in the NFL! You're all winners! It's all a level playing field. What you do from then on is up to you, and on you.
there you go rite there. not too many people will get a chance to get drafted. not too many get to wear the uniform and even less retire from the game
im sure he was agreeing. I was just hoping he will give more insight.. i didnt even think about the stuff he brought up.
The lack of poise he sowed was nothing and everything. The Coach may not care as much (I would, it's generality about his prevailing attitude), but in the fron office, they notice those things as well, because there watching along with everyone, they want to the show that they have been constructing. Unless his characteristics, etiquette, and values that played into his repsonse change, he'll obviously be the same, and it that could prove as a downfall for his side of the table.
