Yeah really ...relatively speaking, not much. You would be hard press to find a regular joe to have them name a woman or a black comic hero
I think most people know Wonder woman and Supergirl maybe even Buffy the vampire slayer but that may be it but you're right.
His extraordinary intellect he's a genius and an expert martial artist. Also an expert strategist. Dude beat Superman in a fight. That says it all.
I forgot about X-Men Days of Future Past (such an awesome awesome title). That was a great movie, though the people I saw it with all thought it was horrible. I sat there like, yeah, that was a BAD movie, but secretly loving it. Spider-Man 3? (and yes that is the one with Venom). That movie was pretty much panned and killed the franchise - which is unfortunate. I think the main problem with that movie was that there were too many villains. All of the super-hero talk has made me want to rewatch the Tobey Maguire Spider-Man movies. I didn't care for 3 when I saw it in the theaters, but I do own it (to complete my trilogy collection) and I will rewatch it with fresh eyes.
Wonder Woman is finally getting her own movie. Whilst I'm no fan of who they cast because she doesn't "fit" the Linda Carter image I have of Wonder Woman, I am excited to see this movie and if they can make a female-led super-hero movie as good as the male-led ones.
Agreed to all of it. I remember being so disappointed when it was over. I was so hyped up to see it. That's kind of why I feel I may like it better now that the shine has worn off. I know no one else liked bad Spider-Man in that movie, but I thought his dancing in the streets was funny. I believe I was (and likely still is) the only person who actually enjoyed that part of the movie. LOL.
Yep they arent going beyond that. Im hard pressed on naming any other demographic than wm. Cool there are comic heros but...whatever. Going pass that cause thats an exhausting and worn out discussion. My favorite comic heroes have been batman and spiderman. I like them cause they are an inch from losing. Superman stinks....no real thrill with him.
With the more recent movies featuring very strong female protagonists, the trend of bringing in more female leads is pretty much expected. Between Ms. Marvel (Captain Marvel) and the future Wonder Woman movie, along side DC bringing in Supergirl and and giving Hawkgirl their own TV shows. But, DC tried this back then with Birds of Prey, while they were still experimenting with bringing superhero shows in the live action motif, alongside the success of Smallville at the time. I do have high hopes for the Wonder Woman movie, and while I still have reservations on the actress, I think she could pull it off. But the first movie is suppose to be set in the 1920s and they are going to explore some common themes pertaining to women, especially during that time.
The problem i have is putting him on the same level as superman. Hes not . You can use the fact he is an excellant fighter and inventor ect....but he is "natural".... Superman is not "natural." He killed superman with kryptonite.btw
The first one was very good and the second one was great so it really stung to see just how bad the third one was by comparison. Two love interests, three different villains, and no direction whatsoever. It would have been a much better movie if they didn't try to cram in all the ideas into one movie. I feel the same way about The Amazing Spider-Man 2. I thought that Andrew Garfield was great but the movie itself tried to do too much at once. And as much as I like Jamie Foxx he was a horrible choice to play Electro.
They need to reboot Elektra with a woman who projects danger and intimidation playing a female ninja/assassin. In the comic books she was the most badass chick in the game for a while.:smt106 BTW the reason I'm antigun now started when I was kid reading an old issue of DD.
Agreed. Jennifer Garner's Elektra was all pouty lips and sex appeal. I imagine her to be like a more sophisticated version of Michelle Rodriguez. Project menace, but the intelligent way, not brutishly.
I couldn't agree more. His portrayal was like his role in The Soloist, only slightly less mentally ill.
I actually liked Elektra then again I was judging it against Daredevil it could only go up from there lol
