This is awful. The family is very spooked..they fled....Many theories are floating around about the origins of this crazed, obsessed stalker... The family is suing for their money back saying that the previous owners never told them about this "watcher" who wants the "young blood of their children". Very very creepy and terrifying. Stalker nicknamed ‘The Watcher’ who terrorized New Jersey family with sinister letters is a local who has a chip on his shoulder, say FBI profilers. Excerpt... "Known as The Watcher, the mysterious individual has transfixed the nation with a series of sinister letters sent to a family planning to move into the Westfield area. Derek and Maria Broaddus received the first of the letters just three days after closing the deal on the $1.3million family home. "In one of the messages, which date back to last year, he said that his family had been 'watching' the house for generations, and claimed he would be able to see the family through their windows. He also accused the family of changing the home. ‘You have changed it and made it so fancy,' he wrote. 'It cries for the past and what used to be in the time when I roamed its halls, when I ran from room to room imagining the life with the rich occupants there… Stop changing it and let it alone." Yup. Why stay?? Not worth the hassle. If I don't know who you are and the local PD can't stop the harassment, I'm not sticking around to see how crazy this MFer is.
Buying a home is a huge investment. A lot of time, effort, and especially money. $1.3 you still owe on a home you can't live in and have to buy/rent another still? That's tough. Jersey might not have disclosure laws, either (PA doesn't). The letters were sent from the next town over...they know what they are doing..
They are suing. But that may not really get them anything. Even with disclosure laws, this would be questionable. If the previous owners went to the authorities and they determined there wasn't anything they could do (based on what the previous owners received) there isn't anything to disclose.
So they bought the house in June of 2014 and the letters so terrified them that they never moved in? Yet this stalker knows they have 3 young children? And this stalker claims they've "changed the house"? If they never moved in, how could they have changed the house? Something smells fishy to me about this entire thing. I'm not buying it.
They could have been fixing the outside, or fixing it up inside. My friend is doing that right now, actually. Fixing up her new house, but not moved in yet.. Also, some are saying it could be a buyer who was out bidded...it's an evolving story right now
As far as them knowing that they have 3 young children. The house closed..it's public record who the buyer is. It's not difficult to find information on the family.
Speaking of the lawsuit (l haven't read it), how about this interesting tidbit I had read In the comment section on another forum....A commenter claimed to have read it and said in it, the family are not only suing for their money back, but they also want to keep the house. They suggested that perhaps it is the homeowners behind it in order to acquire a house for free. What do you think? Too diabolical? Very curious in what the FBI uncovers if there is a creepy "watcher".
