Im not saying they were right for cheering Bliss, or that OJ was in ANY way deserving of support. What I am saying is that in the Black community there were centuries worth of pent up frustration, injustice, and rage, and many (unwisely) chose the OJ trial verdict as some kind of vindication. Surely you know that to this day many many Black people do not trust the justice system (and for good reason, many stats bear that out), which will lead some to always support almost any Black person being prosecuted no matter how vile or obvious their guilt, they will believe it just might have been a "set up". To answer your question, no, I did not cheer as it was obvious to me that OJ was guilty, however at the time, most of my extended family did believe OJ was innocent, and turned a blind eye to the evidence, and these are all very intelligent individuals. I remember having knock down, drag out debates about the case, finally, after the years rolled by they all agreed that he is guilty but that is proof how deep the distrust of the American judicial system can run in Black people. Emmit Till, and countless other Black men wrongly convicted of crimes against White women, are still very powerful reminders to many in the Black community.
My dad is still one of those people. Back in the day when I was in high school and that case was all over the news I paid scant attention to it but even then I realized that given the evidence they presented at trial that OJ was most likely guilty. Twenty years later I'm pretty much certain that he did it but my dad will maintain OJ's innocence until this very day. :smt043
Really? Was this supported by mainstream media? Was his defense supported by the public? You really don't see the contrast?
keeping it real. hakeem versus ewing in the playoffs....they gonna interrupt the game over a slow moving white bronco...they messed up my game buzz
lol lol lol what killed me ....was mofos during the chase that nite had "free oj t-shirts" on the side of the road.
We really didn't know at the point. Also consider LA let a bunch of racist cops get away with shit after it being on videotape. So the concensus was dude had to innocent because LA authorities were fucking liars.
lol...deep down we knew he did it. most dudes were like...."you are own your own boss" instead if that bronco he couldve got a rent a xar from hertz
Seems like coverage of the latest shooting is somewhat muted given that the suspected shooter is white. The comment threads aren't nearly as rage-filled, or is that just my observation?
The attention is really being focused on this Waco gang shooting that the media isn't calling a gang shooting or referring to the perps as thugs lol
I love the sons of anarchy jokes people are writing tho But ur right.....these thugs are nothing but gang bangers White supremacy is a mothafucka If blacks did it.....ud see the entire race thrown under the bus for being defective
Shit have you seen the videos and pics. None of these dudes are face down with guns pointed at them while being cuffed they're just chilling. Suspected fucking murderers and everyone is chillin. No tear gas no military tanks or riot gear. Pictures speak a thousand words
Do my eyes deceive me, or are they not even cuffed behind that police tape? The cop looks like he's protecting them, not detaining them.
:smt005 This shit is unbelievable In case you need more proof http://sports.yahoo.com/news/mother...iend-condemns-possible-release-111805090.html 10 months out of a five year stretch (which was already too short to begin with)
That thuggery, criminal intent and malice are only attributable to non-whites, blacks in particular. Where are the calls for condemning them all as thugs? What about their defective culture? Their absentee fathers? Their receipt of public aid and programs? Shouldn't they, too, be locked up forever, "like the animals they are"?
